History

Godzilla: Tokyo SOS

In 2004, the DD-147 Aizu, followed by Hatake-class destroyers JS Hatakaze (DDG-171) and JS Shimakaze (DDG-172), engaged Godzilla near Hachijo Island as the monster swam toward Tokyo Bay. After readying its weapons systems, Aizu fired guided missiles and its Otobreda 127/54 Compact gun at Godzilla. Godzilla submerged, and the commanding officer of the ship ordered to fire their torpedoes. Most of the torpedoes struck Godzilla, but were ineffective against the monster.
