Name
Rodan's Japanese name, Radon (ラドン Radon), is a truncation of "Pteranodon." It may also have been chosen to suggest radiation. The katakana spelling of Radon is identical to that of Ladon, a dragon-like monster present in Greek mythology, though this may be nothing more than a coincidence. The name was changed to "Rodan" in English-speaking markets,[1] in order to avoid confusion with the element radon.[2] Toho eventually trademarked the name "Rodan," making it the monster's official English name.
Design
The Rodans' appearance is primarily based on their Heisei counterpart's design, though their body proportions anre faintly eccentric due to the comic series' art style.
