"The single-season 70s tokusatsu series Zone Fighter is unique among Japanese giant monster shows- in that is actually canon to, and guest-stars monsters from, the showa-era Godzilla series of films!
However, it has sadly never been released in English, and despite a few abortive attempts by fan groups in the past, even fan subtitles have been patchy.
When my third child arrives in December, my wife and I plan to celebrate (in among the lack of sleep) with the ultimate kaiju marathon- and I want to haze Zone Fighter as a part of it. I’ve lined up a translator with experience in Japanese films who is willing to create English subtitles for these episodes at a rate of about $40 per episode. Which is pretty great, considering the going rate of Japanese-to-English translation… but beyond my means.
But that got me thinking- if I'm passionate about finally experiencing this missing part of the Godzilla canon... maybe others are, too!
The first priority, and basic goal of this project, is to translate the three untranslated episodes featuring Godzilla- this, combined with episodes translated by previous projects, will bring the total number of episodes with a translation to 10, including all of the episodes featuring Godzilla! $725 will be enough to get the entire series translated.
But we can do better. With enough contributors, we can complete the remaining 16 episodes of the single-season show; the entire series of Zone Fighter, privately translated for U.S. kaiju fans to, at long last, enjoy!
$10 is enough to grant you access to the dividends this project produces. $20 will make you a part of the project for everyone to see. And for $40, you've funded translation of an entire episode- and you can pick which one!
Every $40 finishes another episode!

$5 – Save You Some Googling
Access to the resources located online, but without the weeks of searching it took me to assemble them; video files of each episode, fan-translated subtitles for episodes 2, 4, 5 (a little off-timing), 6, 13, 25.
$10 – What’s Mine Is Yours
Access to updated resources; fan-translated subtitles for episodes 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 25 (with episode 5 timecode-corrected and all episodes fixed with small tweaks and edits)- plus eventual access to all of the subtitles created by this campaign.
$20 – Part of the Show
Access to all the resources from the $10 level, plus a special thanks with your name in one of the newly-subtitled episodes… and immediate access to all of the subtitles created by this campaign.
$40 – One of These Is Yours!
You have funded the translation of one whole episode! Access to all the resources from previous levels, plus- if we are in stretch goals- you get to choose which additional episode is translated!
$80 – Double-Episode Superstar
You have funded the translation of two whole episodes! Access to all the resources from previous levels-and an in-subtitle by-name thank-you on every new episode! Plus, you get to choose which additional episodes are translated; even if we aren’t into stretch goals, you will get to choose one additional episode, and I’ll foot the bill to make sure we reach that level!
Due to some peculiarities in the sight's set-up, the stated goal is $500. That was the minimum goal, because I didn't want to ask too much. But you've already exceeded my expectations- and if we can bring it together, $725 can complete the series! But the possibilities don't stop there...
$85 – Episodes #11, #15, and #21 are translated; all of the episodes featuring Godzilla!
$125 – A fourth episode is translated; episode 26 has been chosen!
$165 – Five episodes!
$205 – Six episodes- that’s half the series translated! 1/4 of our ultimate funding goal has been completed!
$245 – Seven episodes!
$285 – Eight episodes! (We have reached this milestone!)
$325 – Nine episodes! (The specific episode chosen either by a $40-or-higher contributor, or defaulting to episode 10.)
$365 – Ten episodes- over half the untranslated episodes at the start of this project will now be translated! Plus, the entire first half of the series will be complete!
$405 – Eleven episodes, and over half our ultimate funding goals completed!
$445 – Twelve episodes!
$485 – Thirteen episodes- over three quarters of the series will be subtitled!
$525 – Fourteen episodes!
$565 – Fifteen episodes!
$605 – Sixteen episodes, and over 3/4 of our ultimate funding goals completed!
$645 – Seventeen episodes!
$685 – Eighteen episodes!
$725 – Nineteen episodes- the entire series! We did it!
$795 – Existing seven episodes, done by various fan groups in the past, will be revised by the translator for consistency and accuracy, bringing everything in the series up to the full quality standards of the project!
Any funds beyond that point would be used to defray Indiegogo fees, and to give an additional bonus to the translator for all their hard work!"
