One of our biggest blind spots right now is the lack of pages for a number of kaiju/giant monster movies, mostly from the 21st century. Here are my recommendations. While a number of these are not Japanese, I am including them while considering the other non-Japanese films already included on the wiki.

  • Yokai Monsters: One Hundred Monsters (1968)
  • Yokai Monsters: Spook Warfare (1968)
  • Thunder of Gigantic Serpent (1988)
  • Big Man Japan (2007)
  • Monster (2008)
  • Raiga: God of the Monsters (2009)
  • Mega Shark Versus Crocosaurus (2010)
  • Monsters (2010)
  • Atlantic Rim (2013)
  • Jellyfish Eyes (2013)
  • Day of the Kaiju (2014)
  • Mega Shark Versus Mecha Shark (2014)
  • Monsters: Dark Continent (2014)
  • Mega Shark Versus Kolossus (2015)
  • Love & Peace (2015)

A couple of these had sandbox pages in development at one point, and a few had pages here that were eventually deleted. I am working currently on a page for Mighty Joe Young (1949), due to its heavy connection to the original King Kong. Of the ones in the above list, the priority should probably be the Yokai Monsters series, since we already mention those films on several pages.

Should we include unmade films such as Micro-Universe in Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Kamacuras?

Unmade films need enough information known about them to support an entire page. If enough information regarding an unmade film from valid sources is available, then any unmade Godzilla film can get a page.

Right, I got it.

Should Always: Sunset on Third Street 2 have a page?

We used to have a page for Monsters (2010). I'm not sure what happened to it. I'm not sure if we should really have those SyFy shark movies on here. Always: Sunset on Third Street 2 could have a page but there wouldn't really be any point considering the sole reason it would be here is cause of Godzilla's cameo.

The Mega Shark movies might be low-budget and generally low-quality, but they're clearly in the kaiju tradition. Landmarks are destroyed, monsters are pitted against each other in the hopes that "both will die," there's a mechanical doppelganger, Mega Shark Versus Kolossus has Oxygen Destroyer missiles and an ending straight out of Invasion of Astro-Monster...

Right but wouldn't that mean we'd also have to start adding other types of Shark movies like the Sharktopus films?

Wikizilla used to have SyFy Channel and Asylum original monster movies back in the dark days of the site, and there were even still remnants of them when I joined, but they were eventually purged from the site. The fact was that no one really wanted those movies on the site or thought highly of them at all, and we just determined it wasn't necessary to include them. Plus it would only further blur the line between what movies we should include on the site and which ones we shouldn't.

In that case, I suppose I don't know what the line is, considering we have plenty of pages for non-Asian giant monster movies already. I'm certainly not suggesting we open the Asylum floodgates, or the Pandora's Box that is the Sharks Killing People Under Odd Circumstances genre, but the Mega Shark movies and a few other Asylum offerings on my list are very much in our wheelhouse. Whenever anyone likes them (and I enjoy Mega Shark Versus Kolossus, for the record) shouldn't have anything to do with it.
