Edit-warring with staff

The King of the Monsters (talkcontribs)

Stop creating redlinks to pages that don't exist and adding unneccessary Wikipedia links. And do not ever edit-war with staff.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Other staff are aware and had no issue with wikipedia links (as many monster pages have it and it looks inconsistant to leave it out on two pages just because you dont like it.) and did nothing about them and the redlinks are for pages that need to be done.

Take it up with them if you have an issue because nether Les or ABB or anyone else told me this was an issue and are aware of these edits for they have edited pages after i Added links to such and did nothing to them.

Also one undo isn't even edit warring.

EDIT asked ABB he said he doesn't care ether way from my understanding.

"Those edits didn't bother me enough to revert them, but I don't think they serve much purpose."

Les (talkcontribs)

The Wikipedia links I can't say I care much about. I get the purpose, but if KOTM feels strongly about it, he can do what he wants.

The red links, however, I think are a nonissue. The whole point of a redlink is to show we desire a page, but it hasn't been made yet. If we have pages for "The Fog Horn" and The Luminous Fairies and Mothra, it only makes sense we'd have them for the Atragon and Matango novels. I think pages for some of Sakyo Komatsu's novels would also be justified. If nothing else, definitely Japan Sinks.

The King of the Monsters (talkcontribs)

Reverting an administrator's edits repeatedly is edit-warring. If you have an issue with a staff member's edit, you bring it to their attention on their talk page, you don't revert it. Wikipedia links are for clarification on subjects that readers may not be familiar with and desire elaboration upon. Everyone knows what an ape or fungus is, but not what a reptilomorph is. Those links serve no purpose.

Undersea Warship and "The Voice in the Night" may get pages eventually, but the staff has not decided upon that yet. And even if pages for them are approved, they will likely not be getting pages any time soon and are very low on the site's priority list. It makes more sense to me to link to existing Wikipedia pages for those topics than nonexistent pages that may not exist for a very long time.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Except i undid kong and matango once when you posted the OP if i remember correctly and you just came onto me freaking about edit warring when it was one undo from what I recall

also Les seems dead set on those two getting pages.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

And now you are making edits that make the pages look inconsistent

If your going to remove that you may as well remove Kumonga and HSP

Which none of the other staff had issues with or undid.

Les (talkcontribs)

I don't see a problem with parasites being listed as relations. We do it with Clover's parasites, too.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Yes thats my point im making les

KoTm keeps removing MUTOs from Dagons relations.

Les (talkcontribs)

The MUTOs hatched inside Dagon's body, making him sort of their "host." I think that's relation enough

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

I appologize im aware KoTm is staff but i just feel keeping parasite relation out of Dagons page made it look inconsistant with other pages

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

The MUTOs drained Dagon which is what parasites do basically is feed on a host

Also lets not forget Singular Point Kumonga as well whom apparantly emerged from a Manda and others living on Ultimas skin.

Also i think clovers are not benefical he rubs against a building trying to get them off if i recall.

Les (talkcontribs)

re:Clover, the Blu-ray special features seem to indicate the parasites agitate him. They even suggest that might be why he came on land.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Huh is that mentioned on the pages for ether of them?

Les (talkcontribs)

It's mentioned in passing under Clover's Origins

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

I thought the drilling agitated him.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

@Les And he just did it again

He seems to be throwing a tantrum that he isnt getting his way and is abusing his staff role to do what he personally wants.

I Dont think i can reason with him at all.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

If I must weigh in on the subject, I think calling parasites "relations" is stretching the meaning of the word to the breaking point. Should be for family members only - granted, the family tree of a monster like Godzilla can get complicated in ways that real family trees do not, but not to the point of including the little things that crawl on him (or the big things that prey on him, in this case).

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

If thats the case then Clovers HSP shouldnt be listed as relations

Nor should MV Mothra be on godzillas relations

Have some consistancy dangit it confuses editors.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Did I say I agreed with those other pages listing parasites as relations?

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

You never mentioned them ether way

But this inconsistency just confuses editors like myself.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

theres also krystalak who is listed as one of spacegodzillas creations and babygodzilla mentioned in rodans relations to give other examples

I think relations should expand to signifigant conections between monsters not just directly related in family terms

Because it has been up until Dagon

and it overall just feels a bit incomplete and maybe a bit dishonest? to simply not list a direct conection between monsters.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

If staff cant agree on one thing it just leaves us confused

Those edit undos in my opinion are just pandering to KoTms demands rather than upholding information simply because he is staff

Which is a god awful way of going about and handling information in my opinion.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Heaven forbid I have my own opinion!

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Maybe instead of being passive aggressive feedback from users should be considered to an extent?

I know i said the guy looked like he had a tantrum which came off as agressive but i had no other way of describing what was going on and im sorry about that.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

If I may be cheeky, an awful lot of your feedback is passive-aggressive. You have a tendency to use very charged language during any disagreement. You also have plenty of good ideas, but this makes people less likely to consider them.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

I mean i did say i have no other way of expressing or describing things my dude.

I simply dunno how to go about wording things in a debate without coming off as such.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

I think those are just the first words you reach for. Try to consider others - you don't have to respond to something as soon as you read it.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

I don't really have the time to conform the entire site to my particular vision. I think the "relations" fields across the site are generally overpopulated, but it would be a tremendous amount of work to go through them all and decide what does and doesn't belong, especially with the familial weirdness that comes with kaiju. ("Love interest" is another I think doesn't qualify, and that's everywhere.) Parasites, at least, are few and far between.

"Dishonest", whew. It's not like that information's been completely obliterated from the site. We're just talking semantics here.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

The point i am ultimately saying it feels incomplete to simply not mention parasites at all in the infobox in Some form of affiliation.

Not even relations necessarily.

All this does is confuse editors who are just trying to help.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

We could add "Parasites" and "Hosts" fields to the infobox template. Wouldn't get used much, but that's straightforward enough.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

While this wouldnt be used much i can agree with this.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Im sorry for all of this.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Okay, template edited. Gotta work now.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

so does obsidious and krystalak count as relations?

Les (talkcontribs)

We had a talk about this whole thing.

Adding separate parameters to the infobox struck me as unnecessary. There’s no reason it can’t go under relations - parasitism is a type of symbiotic relationship, so “relation” is quite literally in the name.
