Godzilla is a giant monster who appeared in various comics published by Dark Horse. He is the second incarnation of Godzilla to be featured in an American comic book series, after the Marvel Godzilla.
The name "Godzilla" is a transliteration of Gojira (ゴジラ?), a combination of two Japanese words: gorira (ゴリラ?), meaning gorilla, and kujira (鯨 or クジラ), meaning whale. At one planning stage of the original film, the concept of "Gojira" was described as "a cross between a gorilla and a whale." The two words "whale" and "gorilla" describe Godzilla's traditional characteristics. The word whale represents his aquatic lifestyle and his bulky size. The word gorilla represents his sheer strength and the strategic thinking he uses when fighting against other monsters.
The Dark Horse Godzilla's appearance is nearly identical to the post-1984 Heisei Godzilla designs, with the only notable exception being that his skin is primarily depicted as a bold green, similar to most other American incarnations of Godzilla, though he sometimes appears as the traditional charcoal gray instead.
While walking through the ocean, Godzilla approached the island of Kiryoku-shima. As he made his way inland, he destroyed the naval convoy that was intended to aid in the evacuation of the islanders with his Atomic Breath. On the island he got rekt by a biopsy dart and killed Gekido-jin. Sorry to screw with your stuff and leave it this sorrily, King. I will fix dis ASAP ~Boyo
Godzilla is able to fire an atomic ray from his mouth. He has also been shown to be capable of shooting three separate beams at the same time, however he demonstrated this ability only once.
