Kong's Father is the father of King Kong, and has appeared in many media over the years. Debuting in 2004's Kong: King of Skull Island, he seldom lives long wherever she appears. Her most recent appearance was in 2017's Skull Island: The Birth of Kong.

Design

Kong's father, like all Kong, resembles a gorilla. In the Kong of Skull Island continuity, he lost an eye before Kong was old enough to remember it, and was heavily scarred from years of battle. In the MonsterVerse, Kong's father had more human-like features than the average gorilla, but was more gorilla-like than his son, having shorter legs and a more muscled neck.

Origins

Kong's Father, is the father of King Kong, as his title explicitly states. He and Kong's Mother are typically either the last, or close to the last individuals of the Kong species. This is typically done by a rival reptile species, which kills them in the end, leaving Kong alone.

History

Kong: King of Skull Island

Kong's parents were quite elderly when they were slaughtered by Gaw: a gigantic Deathrunner. However, when Kong discovered his father's corpse, it was being eaten by a parent and child Meat-Eater, which Kong believed had killed him. This set their son on a path to defeating the reptile, and becoming the god to the Tagatu people of Skull Island.

King Kong (2005)

Kong kept a boneyard filled with the remains of his ancestors, in a form of mourning the relatives he had never known. In an interview with the film's director Peter Jackson, he confirmed that the skeleton in his lair is his father.

Kong of Skull Island

While Kong's father is never explicitly referenced, a Kong's remains can be seen on the floor of he and his mother's lair, in a possible reference to the location of his father's bones in the 2005 film.

Skull Island: The Birth of Kong

After millions of years of struggle against the Skullcrawlers, Kong's parents were the only two Kong left in existence, and were present when the Iwi people arrived. At some point after this encounter, or possible briefly before it, Kong's Mother became pregnant. However, the Skullcrawler threat persisted, and she went in to labor while on the battlefield. She and Kong's father did their best to fend the devils off, and Kong was delivered safely. Kong's Mother then sealed the infant in a cave while Kong's Father continued the battle before they both succumbed to the Skullcrawlers, and Kong watched as they were slaughtered.
