Kong's mother
|
Kong's Mother is the mother of King Kong, and has appeared in many media over the years. Debuting in 2004's Kong: King of Skull Island, she seldom lives long wherever she appears. Her most recent appearance was in 2017's Skull Island: The Birth of Kong.
Design
Kong's Mother tends to resemble a gorilla, one way or another, with no real focus on making her appear particularly female. However, in the MonsterVerse continuity, in which the Kong share more traits in common with humans, she is more rotund than the males with more pronounced breasts and longer hair on her head.
Origins
Kong's Mother, is the mother of King Kong, as her title explicitly states. She and Kong's Father are typically either the last, or close to the last individuals of the Kong species. This is typically done by a rival reptile species, which kills them in the end, leaving Kong alone.
History
Kong: King of Skull Island
Kong's parents were quite elderly when they were slaughtered by Gaw: a gigantic Deathrunner. This set their son on a path to defeating the reptile, and becoming the god to the Tagatu people of Skull Island.
Kong of Skull Island
- Main article: Ghost (Kong of Skull Island).
Kong's mother was a feral Kong known as The Ghost, who lived with her son in the wilds of Skull Island before he was taken away and essentially adopted by Valla, another female Kong. Ghost, then assumed the title of Gaw before being killed by her son.
Kong: Gods of Skull Island
While worshiping Kong under the influence of the Black Wall Vine, Bar-Atu told his followers stories, one of which involved Kong's mother. Allegedly at one point, a gigantic worm stole Kong and took him to the center of the Earth. Kong's Mother followed the worm, and together they defeated it before returning to the surface. Allegedly, at some point after her death, a wizard resurrected the bones of Kong's ancestors, which would presumably include his deceased parents, and attempted to take over Skull Island. Kong defeated the wizard and put the bones back in the ground.
Skull Island: The Birth of Kong
After millions of years of struggle against the Skullcrawlers, Kong's parents were the only two Kong left in existence, and were present when the Iwi people arrived. At some point after this encounter, or possible briefly before it, Kong's Mother became pregnant. However, the Skullcrawler threat persisted, and she went in to labor while on the battlefield. She and her mate did their best to fend the devils off, and Kong was delivered safely. Kong's Mother then sealed the infant in a cave before she and his father succumbed to the Skullcrawlers, and Kong watched as they were slaughtered.
