The Lizard Slayers (リザード・スレイヤーズ,   Rizādo Sureiyāzu) are three giant mechas who appear in episode 14 of the second season of Godzilla: The Series, "Lizard Season."

Design

Lizard Slayer I is a white and red terrestrial-based exo-suit with two legs, two machine gun arms with shoulder-mounted pods, and a machine gun on its chest. Lizard Slayer I has a dark grey 1 on its chest above the machine gun and a dark grey LS1 on the left side of its body.

Lizard Slayer II is a white and green amphibious attack vessel with two legs that could fold up for aquatic movement, two jets used for underwater propulsion, and a yellow and green stripe between the jets. Lizard Slayer II has an orange 2 behind its cockpit below and an orange LS2 on the side of its left jet.

Lizard Slayer III is a white and blue aerial assault vehicle with four jets, a large cannon, two missile cells, and a yellow and blue stripe on the left side of its cannon. Lizard Slayer III has an orange 3 on the left side of its cannon and an orange LS3 on both sides of the front jets.

Origins

The Lizard Slayers were created by Cameron Winter and given to the three trappers (from the earlier episode "Cat and Mouse"), Hank, Dale, and Bill with the purpose of killing Godzilla.

History

After two failed attempts at defeating Godzilla, the vile Cameron Winter turned to his technology once again. He had the three Lizard Slayers created and acquired aid from the three hnuters known as Dale, Hank, and Bill, infamous for their attempt to kill Godzilla during the Mutant Rat invasion. With Dale piloting Lizard Slayer I, Bill piloting Lizard Slayer II, and Hank piloting Lizard Slayer III, the trio of war machines were unleashed on Godzilla after the three hunters tested out their new toys on a series of unmanned tanks. Lizard Slayer II followed Godzilla from beneath the waves, pushing him to the coast and battling him underwater; the fight moved inland where Lizard Slayer II was joined with its allies. As the battle raged on, Hank’s piloting left much to be desired, and he ended up blasting his friends by accident. Godzilla realized that this was a fight he could not win alone. As Lizard Slayer I and III tried to stop the retreating Godzilla, Bill’s piloting also left much to be desired, as he also shot down his friends by accident. The Monster King tried to seek shelter, but was quickly discovered by Lizard Slayer III and attacked again. Army choppers would make an appearance to deal with Godzilla, but in his panicked state the reptile attacked them. Winter reminded the hunters of the terms of their bargain; they had to kill Godzilla themselves to earn their freedom. While Bill was unsure about firing upon the choppers, Dale did not hesitate and fired on the military, much to the surprise of his two friends, making the other two start firing upon the choppers. After Godzilla was sent into retreat, Cameron ordered the three to stay put as he hatched a plan to lure Godzilla into attacking the Heat-Seeker, but Dale and his two friends left, intending to abandon the machines and escape the military's retribution. After Winter's plan had failed, he ordered the three hunters to return to the hunt. As the other two Lizard Slayers took on Godzilla, Lizard Slayer II was sent after the Heat-Seeker. Unwilling to attack a manned ship, Bill was helpless as his robot was remotely controlled by Cameron. Fortunately, however, the Heat-Seeker managed to get its power online just in time to evade it. In response, H.E.A.T. began to split up into teams to take down the mechas. After moving in again to attack with Lizard Slayer II, Cameron’s vehicle would be totaled for good as Monique and Randy dropped a bomb overboard, exploding as soon as the undersea vehicle struck it, and the hunter inside was apprehended. Craven and Elsie, along with N.I.G.E.L., took on Lizard Slayer III. N.I.G.E.L. managed to board the Slayer with a grappling hook and then deliver a massive surge of power to it, bringing it down and destroying its circuitry. Unable to escape, Hank was apprehended as well. Dale’s Lizard Slayer I was infiltrated by Nick, which led to a brief fistfight that was interrupted by Godzilla biting off the forward half of the cockpit. After the hunters were arrested, Godzilla continued to rip apart the machine, but Cameron Winter would, once again, go free after he and his company declared that the three hunters had stolen the machines. It was a bittersweet victory for H.E.A.T., however, as Winter called Nick personally to inform him that the U.S. government had been impressed by the three mechas and purchased models of each one in bulk for the military.

Abilities

Missiles

Each Lizard Slayer is equipped with missiles. Lizard Slayer I is armed with 17 heat-seeking missiles of average strength within its shoulder-mounted pods. Lizard Slayer II is equipped with dozens of missiles that can also double as torpedoes when underwater. Cameron Winter stated the missiles were powerful enough to sink a fleet of battleships. Lizard Slayer III is armed with dozens of missiles of average strength.

Machine guns

Lizard Slayer I has three machine guns, one on each hand and another one in its chest, each capable of firing out hundreds of rounds per minute.

Concussion cannons

Inside of the machine gun arms, Lizard Slayer I is armed with concussion cannons that can deal heavy damage to whatever they hit.

Tasers

Lizard Slayer I can fire short-range blasts of electricity from its chest in case something gets too close.

Aquatic capability

Lizard Slayer II can travel in the water with a maximum speed of 40 knots.

Cannon

Lizard Slayer III is equipped with a large cannon that can do a lot of damage to whatever it hits.

Lasers

Even though it is never seen, Cameron Winter stated that Lizard Slayer III has laser weaponry.

Trivia

• The Lizard Slayers might have drawn some inspiration from the Spider-Slayers, a series of various robots from the Spider-Man comics.
