Kong is a giant ape monster created by Warner Bros. that first appeared in the 1998 animated film, The Mighty Kong.

Design

While Kong's body is unmistakably ape, his face has almost feline properties. Below his wide, pronounced nose, Kong's upper lip is bisected, and sports several marks that would seem to indicate whiskers. He has sharp teeth with large canines, and has dark fur, gray skin, and two small ears.

Origins

Kong's origins are never touched on, but at some point in his life, he became revered by a "Monkey Cult" on Skull Island that worshiped him as a god and offered him human sacrifices.

History

The Mighty Kong

During a normal sacrifice, Kong took the girl that had been offered to him, named Ann Darrow, and made his way into his volcano lair, where he dunked her in a waterfall before throwing her in a pool and then drying her off with his breath. They were then attacked by Pteranodons and a Giant Snake, necessitating that Kong put Ann down. While he fought she was taken away, and he chased after her, eventually discovering Carl Denham, who ordered Kong be incapacitated with gas bombs. He was then taken to New York City, where he was put in a stage show about his discovery. When Ann got on stage, and photographers began to take pictures, Kong perceived that Ann was in dager and broke out of his chains. He eventually burst through the front of the theater and began to play zany tricks in the city. He placed a car onto railroad tracks, played golf with street lights and manholes, and other such tomfoolery. He eventually found Ann's jacket outside a hotel, where Kong found her in her room and took her up the Empire State Building. Airplanes were sent to kill him, but Kong eliminated them all. Two blimps with a cargo net strung between then attempted to capture Kong alive, and were nearly successful, but his weight snapped the net and he fell to the street below. He was presumed dead, but opened his eyes.

After surviving the fall, Kong was either allowed to roam free in south New Jersey, or released on a private island.

Abilities

Breath

Kong's odd uses of his breath are touched on multiple times in the film, although he uses it most prominently to dry Ann off.
