The Dimension Tide (ディメンション・タイド,   Dimenshon Taido) is an orbital weapon satellite capable of firing a miniature black hole which first appeared in the 2000 Godzilla film, Godzilla vs. Megaguirus.

History

Millennium era

Godzilla vs. Megaguirus

The Dimension Tide was introduced alongside the G-Graspers' main battle craft, the GX-813 Griffon, as a weapon which could hopefully deal with Godzilla for good by shooting miniature black holes at him. The first test of the weapon seemed perfect, but the black hole allowed an egg from the Carboniferous period, containing many Meganulon, to travel forward in time to the present day. Nevertheless, the Dimension Tide was completed and launched into a geostationary orbit.

Later, the Griffon and a fleet of Mitsubishi F-15Js lured Godzilla to the tiny island of Kiganjima, and the Dimension Tide was ready to fire again. The weapon shot a black hole at Godzilla, but failed to kill him as the singularity only created a hole in the ground from which Godzilla quickly pulled himself out of. The Dimension Tide then began to charge for the next attack.

However, when Megaguirus flew into the upper atmosphere, the extreme ultrasonic waves being emitted from her wings altered the Dimension Tide's orbit, causing it to begin to fall out of the sky. After Godzilla defeated the insectoid queen, the G-Graspers tried one last attempt at getting the weapon to work. Major Kiriko aboard the Griffon nose-dived the craft towards Godzilla. Luckily, she ejected herself out of the craft before it hits Godzilla, causing it to explode on contact with his skin. With mere seconds left before the Dimension Tide exploded in Earth's upper atmosphere, it was able to fire a black hole towards Godzilla's location. Godzilla countered by firing his atomic breath at the black hole, causing another blast to engulf the area. After the smoke cleared, Godzilla was nowhere to be seen, and the G-Graspers appeared victorious.

However, over the next few days, tremors began to take place under Tokyo. The G-Graspers began to consider the possibility that Godzilla had managed to escape from the black hole. This fear was confirmed when a huge tremor rocked the city and a familiar roar could be heard.

Godzilla: The Half-Century War

In 2002, Gigan and King Ghidorah had razed half of Earth. Using Psionic Transmitters, the Anti Megalosaurus Force lured the space kaiju to Antarctica for a final attempt at resistance, where a land-based Dimension Tide would fire a black hole at the space monsters while the New Mechagodzilla kept them busy. Godzilla emerged from the sea to face King Ghidorah and Gigan, and was joined by Mechagodzilla. During the battle, the Dimension Tide prepared to fire, and Ota Murakami barely managed to get both Gigan and Ghidorah within the line of fire. The black hole devoured them, while Godzilla attempted to leave, only for Mechagodzilla to attack him in an attempt to force him into the black hole too. The gravity shredded Mechagodzilla, allowing Ota to say his farewell to Godzilla face-to-face before the black hole seemingly absorbed them both and disappeared.

Some time after the battle, Godzilla's dorsal plates were visible swimming in the ocean.
