Arkitius was one of four film concepts considered by Nikkatsu as their attempt to enter the 'Kaiju Boom' of the 1960s which began with Momonra, followed with the Giant Monster Gigant, and ended with Reigon: Devil of the Seabed. These four projects were all dropped in favor for the ultimately completed Gappa, the Triphibian Monster.
