Article description: (description ) This attribute controls the content of the description and og:description elements. | MUTO (an acronym for Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism) is a designation used by the agency Monarch to refer to newly-discovered monsters in Legendary Pictures' Monsterverse. The term was coined by Bill Randa in the organization's early years. While most MUTOs tend to receive their own specific names from Monarch and henceforth become classified as Titans[1] or superspecies, they are all initially given this designation. In the comic Godzilla: Awakening, both Godzilla and Shinomura are referred to as "MUTO" before being given their own unique names. The two antagonist monsters in the film Godzilla (2014) are only referred to as MUTOs, and do not have their own specific names. |
