Considered one of the world's premier film composers in his time, Sato scored over 300 films,[1] including frequent collaborations with directors Akira Kurosawa[2] and Jun Fukuda.[1] He was the Godzilla series' second-ever composer after Akira Ifukube, scoring four of the franchise's films as well as a handful of Toho's other tokusatsu productions. Sato passed away at age 71 on December 5, 1999. |
