California is the largest and most populated state in the United States, where the state makes up most of the east coast of the nation. It was prominetly featured as the battlegroud of the MUTOs and Godzilla in Godzilla (2014 film) and the landing area for the Trilopods in Godzilla: Rulers of Earth.

Godzilla (2014 film)
After it was studied for a time, the second MUTO spore was taken to the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository where it lay dormant until the male MUTO's calls awoke it from its slumber 15 years later. Bursting from the mountatin, the female MUTO attacked Las Vegas as she made her way to the male. Meeting up in San Francisco, the two MUTOs exchange a stolen nuclear war head before the female begins digging a nest.
