In 1968, he was hired by Tsuburaya Productions to work as the drama-unit production designer of their tokusatsu television shows, beginning with Mighty Jack. His duties included creating character and weapon designs, most famously designing Ultraman Ace and Ultraman Leo as well as numerous kaiju.

Suzuki began his career as a part-time modeling assistant to Eizo Kaimai on Godzilla and Godzilla Raids Again, but sought to move away from special effects so that he could become a director. He worked for a time as an assistant cinematographer and art director for Toho, and was hired by Eiji Tsuburaya to work on his company's tokusatsu television shows, starting with 1968's Mighty Jack. He would also go on to serve as a frequent character designer on several entries of the Ultra series in the 1970's, most notably creating the designs of Ultraman Ace and Leo. Suzuki planned, designed, and performed in theme parks between the 80s and 90s, such as the Tokyo Disneyland, and was recruited to create miniature sets for Godzilla vs. Destoroyah in 1995. Overseas, he provided special art direction on the South and North Korean films The Mighty Peking Man and Pulgasari, respectively, also creating character and weapon designs for the latter. Though seemingly retired from film, Suzuki has since made appearances at tokusatsu and art events across Japan.
Suzuki was also given sporadic work at Toho through the 1970s, and again in the 1990s, when he oversaw the production design for Takao Okawara's Reiko, Psyche Resurrected (1991) and Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995). Outside of Japan, he joined several former and then-current Toho personnel on the South Korean film The Mighty Peking Man (1977) and North Korean film Pulgasari (1985), working as special effects production designer under directors Sadamasa Arikawa and Teruyoshi Nakano, respectively.
