Godzilla Battle Line has a wide range of pieces, and allows different ways to arrange your team. I’ve noticed this and I was not sure if anybody agreed, but Battle Line is a lot like Supercell’s Clash Royale (a spin off of their famous game, Clash of Clans) but better handled and with more material. Various pieces in Battle Line have quite similar gimmicks and features to those in Clash Royale. So, I thought maybe I’d go over features of some of the pieces in Battle Line and draw a few parallels along the way.

  • Godzilla (1989): As a unit, his gimmick is to Will Smith-slap ground and leaders (yeah, I wanted to get that joke in). In all seriousness, 1989 is quite similar to the P.E.K.K.A. in Clash Royale; high health count and high damage output, they are both very tanky, but can be overwhelmed by swarming units or aerial units.
  • Evolving units: There are more evolving pieces than there are stars in the sky, so, I’ll sum them up a bit. Evolving units is one of the things I was referring to when mentioning that Godzilla Battle Line has more material than Clash Royale. The evolving units concept was a fun feature, as it added a dynamic feature to the gameplay. Mothra (1992) and Battra are both quite effective, with Mothra’s scales and Battra’s attack boost. But Godzilla Terrestris/Ultima is one that catches my fancy, as he is more durable than the previously mentioned two stage evolving units, and the range on Ultima’s atomic breath is great to make use of. Then Shin Godzilla adds another layer to the evolving piece concept with not two, but three stages. The second three stage, I’ll touch on next…
  • Destoroyah (Aggregate/Flying/Perfect): Much like Shin Godzilla, Destoroyah is a three stage evolving piece, but his first form is stronger. Though the the most interesting gimmick for the piece is Perfect form Destoroyah, who spawns Destoroyah Larva upon expiration. This feature reminded me a bit of the Golem in Clash Royale, who splits into Golemites when a larger form expires.
  • King Caesar (1974): King Caesar was the starter charging unit, and this is another piece similar to one in Clash Royale: the Prince. In both cases, the charging unit has a higher damage output with their charge, with secondary attacks that have lower damage output. This is a severe headache for those with evolving units like Godzilla Terrestris (I know this painfully well), but there are counters for him, such as Megaguirus, who slows his charge.
  • Mothra Leo (1996): Basically King Caesar but flying. This I found a bit disappointing, but it does have benefits for those who use him: as a flying unit, he is not slowed by the moat, and it makes it so that Megaguirus is less effective, as Mothra Leo can attack Megaguirus. My favored counter is his first foe: Desghidorah, as the fiery plume stuns Mothra Leo and halts his charge, along with the burning effect applied.
  • Dimension Tide: quite similar to the Twister in Clash Royale, drawing opponents to a central point within a certain radius, but has the bonus of applying damage.

Energy Refueling Station: Basically the Elixir Farm in Clash Royale, applying extra energy to send out units.

I could go on, but There are quite a lot of ones I could suggest. I might do a second part if you like. What do you guys think?
