Hi, I am Kaiju lord, I am a young kaiju fan from France. I haven't seen any japanese Godzilla movies but I have seen all Monsterverse movies. However, thanks to Youtube, I have seen a lot of clips from all Godzilla movies. My points of interests are Godzilla (duh), Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, DC, Jurassic Park/World...

My Reviews of the Monsterverse movies

1 Godzilla (2014)

This is the worst MV movie for a few reasons :

• The characters are again really bland, with the exception of Joe Brody and Serizawa.
• The action is always shrouded in darkness, with a storm appearing for no reason at the final battle.
• Even tough the final battle is incredible, it didn't satisfy me enough.

However, it has more good points :

• Godzilla's design and roar are amazing.
• The MUTOs are amazing as well.
• The music fits the atmosphere really well.
• Godzilla's entrances are chilling.
• The monster action, altough small, is astounding with the atomic breath reveal at the top. Well, almost the top...
• The Kiss of Death : What can I say except YEEEEEES !!!!!!

Gozilla (2014), albeit with some mistakes, is still a solid basis for the MV even tough I think it's not on the same level as Kong: Skull Island, or KOTM. A 7/10

2 Kong: Skull Island

Amazing 'island of horrors' movie. The action is incredible and never has Kong felt so threatening and so plausible other than in 2005. The music is kinda bland and the characthers as well, some of them feel like they have no reason to be here, but they're not annoying or stupid. The Skullcrawlers are so unique and cool. A great introduction of Kong and it's personality. An 8/10

3 Godzilla: King of the Monsters

I think this is the best movie in the Monterverse because it has managed to capture the feel of Godzilla movies while remaining unique and taking itself seriously. The music is amazing, especially the reimagining of Godzilla's and Mothra's classic themes. The monster designs and the action are incredible, altough I wished we would have day fights. The characthers are quite bland and their motivations are confusing but they aren't dumb or annoying. The plot is fairly simplistic and easy to follow. Overall, it's a good addition to the Godzilla franchise and sets up GvK perfectly. A 9/10.

4 Godzilla vs. Kong

Ok, I have a lot to say about this movie. I loved it like any Monsterverse movies. Here's what I tought worked or was cool or any good sides of the movie :

• The CGI is amazing and the best in the Monsterverse
• The fights are cool and inventive.
• Both Godzilla and Kong are given the respect they deserve.
• The Hollow Earth is really well done.
• Mechagodzilla is badass and has become my favorite design of the character.
• The humans don't try to steal the spotlight but aren't useless to the plot.
• All new monsters are interesting.
• The comedy is quite good.

But this movie has also some bad sides :

• The human charcters aren't as developped as I would like : while Team Godzilla (Madison, Josh and Bernie) have well defined personalities, Team Kong (Nathan, Ilene and Jia) is quite blander, however that doesn't stop them from having comedy.
• Apex is unfortunately bland as well. While there was some good acting for Walter Simmons, I didn't really care that he was there. Maia, on the other hand, achieved her goal of being detestable, and I felt satisfied when Kong killed her.
• The skullcrawlers didn't get any screentime.
• Outside of Godzilla and Ghidorah's skull, no titans from KOTM reappeared.
• It's too damn short !
• Some plot holes are present.
• It does sometimes require suspension of disbelief.
• Godzilla, Kong and Mechagodzilla barely feel like titans : there are almost no human POV shots which showed us the Size of the Titans, and Godzilla feels too light and quick and not weighty enough.
• Ren Serizawa's character is wasted.

The music is good, also not on the level of KOTM. There's also no regards to physics, I know it sounds dumb because we are talking about a giant iguana fighting a giant monkey, but the movie completely abandons them, which is both good and bad, because it makes it closer to the old Toho movies but also separates it from other MV movies. Overall it is a good addition to the Monsterverse and an awesome movie, albeit with some issues. An 8.5/10

My own opinions on some things

• Just because something is new, doesn't mean it's good. Exemple: Mechagodzilla City is a new idea for the character, but it doesn't work with that character, as it disregard everything that made Mechagodzilla, Mechagodzilla.
• Similarly to the last point, if you are going to take a famous character, and make it completely different, then you shouldn't use that character and make a brand new one instead, to avoid fan outrage. This is why Zilla should be considered as separate from Godzilla, as the former's design is far different from the latter's, but it's good in it's own way.

For exemple, here is an image made by Dinomania:

• I think the manes should be exclusive to Showa Ghidorah, as I really don't think that it would look good on any of the later incarnations.
• Some people might not like Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but you can't deny that it respects the original series.

Easy misunderstandings about the monsterverse

• Apex and Jonah's organization are far from being the same, Apex wants to kill all titans to ensure the domination of humans and Jonah wants to kill all humans because he sees them as violent and corrupt, and a danger to Earth. How Apex got Ghidorah's skull is still unknown.

My Titan Exodus theory

So when I learned in GvK that Skull island's storm closed in and killed the Iwi, I always wondered why. I think it's because all the titans except Godzilla went to the hollow earth and inadvertently caused the storm to move from it's position. I have some proofs of this theory :

• There's no KOTM Titans other than Godzilla that is active. So they are either dead or into the Hollow Earth.
• During KOTM's end credits, we saw a newspaper stating that Titans were converging towards Skull Island.

[Spoilers for Kingdom Kong] Scratch what I wrote, it was Camazotz's storm all along.
