South Korea is a country located in East Asia. Prominently featured in the 1967 kaiju film Yongary, Monster from the Deep, South Korea has appeared in several other smaller roles throughout kaiju media.
History
The Last War
The 38th parallel was one of the main sources of rising tensions between the Alliance, which backed North Korea, and the Federation, which backed South Korea. These tensions quickly escalated into global nuclear war.
Bulgasari
Murdered by traitors during the Goryeo Dynasty, a skilled martial artist was resurrected as the iron-eating monster Bulgasari to seek vengeance.
Space Monster Wangmagwi
The Gamma aliens sent Wangmagwi to Earth to wipe out humanity in preparation to colonize the planet. Wangmagwi landed in South Korea and attacked Seoul, unharmed by the Korean military's assault. A homeless boy climbed into Wangmagwi and cut him up on the inside, severing the aliens' control over the kaiju in the process. Wangmagwi continued to rampage, but was set on fire by a jet crashing into it. The Gamma aliens, terrified, self-destructed Wangmagwi and called off their plans for invasion.
Yongary, Monster from the Deep
Yonggary tunneled to South Korea after a nuclear test in the Middle East, causing earthquakes in his wake. Yonggary emerged in Seoul, where he consumed an oil factory and was slightly injured by ammonia. The Korean military lured Yonggary away from Seoul with a beam of light, where they bombarded him with missiles and an ammonia precipitate, the latter of which successfully killed him.

Pulgasari
During the Goryeo dynasty, a cruel king ruled Korea, subjecting the peasantry to misery and starvation. An old blacksmith who was sent to prison created a rice doll of a monster, After it came in contact with the blood of the blacksmith's daughter, the doll became Pulgasari, a giant, metal-eating monster. Pulgasari killed the king, but became a pest after, devouring on metal and eating buildings. But the blacksmith's daughter tricked Pulgasari into eating her, causing him to revert back to his original components and crumble away.

Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters
At the Korean Demilitarized Zone, a pair of North Korean and South Korean soldiers watched each other through lookout towers. Godzilla fired his atomic breath down the middle of the DMZ, and proceeded to crush the North Korean guards, much to the delight of the South Koreans. Godzilla then lumbered into North Korea.

Battra attacked a military base in South Korea during a new surge in kaiju attacks, killing all but Claire Plangman. Boxer flew to South Korea to recruit Claire for the Monster Kill Crew. Later, the Kill Crew captured Battra in Seoul with an electrified net.

GODZILLA: Monster Apocalypse
Maguma appeared in North Korea in 2024 and ransacked the country, before heading south towards Seoul, South Korea. The United States launched a tactical nuclear strike against Maguma, which successfully killed it, marking the first nuclear strike against a kaiju.
