Plot

With K'vanni now a child, a small rebellious force still attempted to eliminate the Kong so as to build an impregnable fortress in the wilderness. They feel that Ewata is more concerned with the Kong than with the Taguatu, and have a small portion of their citadel built. K'vanni believes in taming the monsters of the wilds as they have with the Kong, but Ewata refuses to see this. K'vanni then trekked down to the ocean, where she was approached by one of the builders of the fortress, who invited her there with her Kong. The next day, when Ewata went to Sani the Storyteller's hut, she found that K'vanni had not gone to study that morning, but one of his other students said she saw her going with one of the builders, and Ewata rushed to her aid.
