Godzilla Vanilla

In conjunction with the 1998 American GODZILLA film's release, Dreyer's and Edy's released a limited edition ice cream flavor called "Godzilla Vanilla" to stores on May 20, 1998. The flavor was intended to resemble Godzilla swimming in water, with its predominant ingredient of vanilla ice cream acting as a sea, the chocolate fudge acting as waves, and chocolate Godzilla heads to "swim" within it.[1] Godzilla Vanilla contained 160 calories, 8 grams of fat, 25 milligrams of cholesterol, 50 milligrams of sodium, 19 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of protein, and 6% calcium per ½ cup.[2]

Trivia

  • Godzilla Vanilla ice cream couldn't be released until May 20 because it clearly showed the film's version of Godzilla, and TriStar wanted to keep the monster's design a secret.[3]
