So since Godzilla vs. Kong's soundtrack has been released for quite some time, I relistened to all of the Monsterverse's OSTs, and this is the ranking I came up with :
- 1: Godzilla: King of the Monsters OST by Bear McCreary : It's just amazing! The use of old themes for Godzilla and Mothra is so well executed, and even the new themes for King Ghidorah and Rodan are great as well! Even Monarch as it's theme! It's just astounding on every level.
- 2: Godzilla vs. Kong OST by Tom Holkenborg/Junkie XL: I really like this soundtrack. It's a shame they used a different theme for Godzilla but the new one is good enough. Kong's theme is very welcomed but Mechagodzilla's theme is just Godzilla's theme but with vocals. Overall it's really good but not good enough to pass KOTM's OST.
- 3: Godzilla OST by Alexandre Desplat: Oh boy, that is a close one. Unfortunately this soundtrack doesn't use themes that much, but it manages to set up the mood and atmosphere perfectly.
- 4:Kong: Skull Island OST by Henry Jackman: This is the worst OST in the Monsterverse. It's not bad per say, but it's just a generic action movie soundtrack compared to the others. There's no theme for Kong or the Skullcrawlers. Overall, it's very forgettable. And it's a shame that Henry Jackman made it because his MCU soundtracks are so much better.
