I think "As in the film,..." is correct.
It's like the old ad for Winston cigarettes "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should." When Walter Cronkite did the ad, he knew it was supposed to be "...as a cigarette should", and was fired from the ad campaign when he said it that way in the ad he was on.
