Yeah, as a Taiwanese (we tend to buy a lot of media from Hong Kong) I’m well aware, I just wanted to clarify that neither file is very accurate, but especially the Universe Laser (actually I have a Space Travelers DVD with really good subtitles from Universe). BIORANTE’s subtitles are pretty hit or miss, while Universe is most misses. Where BIORANTE falls shortest I think is the character interactions, how their lines are written removes so much character from it, and sometimes improvises lines, an example is taking “What’s going on here… Secret orders?!” “Stupid bastard! Get over here now, there’s no time left!” and change it to “What the hell is this all about?” “Arsehole! I’d rather hear it from you! I don’t have the time”. I think that removes some depth from John Lee thinking at first that he was betrayed. These changes can be minor, but I haven’t looked through all of it yet and still wouldn’t rely on it as the most accurate.
