I don't feel that we have a strong enough case to run with that. There are no definitive timestamps during the prologue that place it in '92, and we can only infer from the present day seemingly being in '92. So if the only date in the movie is for the present day, and we're in agreement that that should be disregarded in favor of '93, then there is no longer anything to indicate the meteor was in '92. Plus as I mentioned, at least one book outright says the meteor falling was in 1993. I think it's a 'one or the other' kind of situation, and between '92 and '93, the latter is more widely accepted today.
