Could the Heisei Gamera trilogy and Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack share the same continuity/timeline if not the same universe?

I'm not saying it is true, but rather it could be true. You don't have to believe me, this is all merely speculation, all you need is a simple open mind.

Anyway, here are some elements that could/might support said theory:

At the start of GMK, the Admiral mentions that after Zilla's attack in New York City, various sightings of giant monsters have occured since, some of those sightings could very been of Gamera, Gyaos, Legion, Iris, etc.

Later at one point, a man discovers a sleeping Ghidorah within a cavern. This man happens to be played by the same actor who protrayed Inspector Osaka in the Gamera films, so it's likely that this character might very well be Inspector Osaka (or someone related to him at least).

The film itself also brings up the concept of "guardian monsters", which Gamera himself happens to be regarded as such as well. So maybe he too was supposed to fight Godzilla along with Baragon, Mothra and Ghidorah, but didn't due a long rest underwater after fighting away all of what remained of the Gyaos back in '99, and never awoke ever since for some time.

Or maybe he sacrificed himself to kill off the remaining Gyaos for good, hence his absence in the events of GMK.

The three guardian monsters of GMK are said to represent a certain element: Mothra's the Guardian of Water (since she emerged from a lake in larva form), Ghidorah's the Guardian of Air (since he can fly of course), and Baragon's the Guardian of Earth (since he can burrow underground). So maybe, Gamera might be the Guardian of Fire, evidenced by his quote-unquote "fire breath".

Ghidorah being empowered by the spirits of Mothra and Baragon seems quite similar to when Gamera absorbed the Earth's Mana energy to defeat Legion. Perhaps there could easily be some mysterious connection.

Last, but not least, GMK ends with the reveal of Godzilla's still-beating heart, hinting that he might regenerate some time soon. So maybe then, Gamera could return as well, for the ultimate showdown between the King of the Monsters & the Guardian of the Universe.

But that's my theory so far, what do you think of it?

That's a fun little theory. Some people go ahead and say that Godzilla: The Series happened in the "G98-GMK" fan-timeline, but throwing Gamera in would make sense and could also account for the 'attacks' that happened in other parts of the world.

Don't forget that GMK is directed by the same guy who directed the Heisei Gamera movies, hence the spiritual aspect. It's possible he subconsciously placed it in the same general universe as Gamera. Or at least, I wouldn't see him actively putting stuff in it that would negate any possibility.

The first lines in GMK are about how the JSDF has never fought a battle since 1954.

Indeed. They would have had to mention battles in 1995, 1996, and 1999 had the Gamera Trilogy and GMK shared a timeline.
