The United States of America is the second largest country in North America, comprised of 50 states and a federal district.
The United States was one of the main members of the Allies in World War II, allied with the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union and France. The U.S. became entangled in the war after the attacks on Pearl Harbor (in Hawaii) by Japan's Imperial Navy, and the two countries became two of the strongest nations in the fight. The U.S. ended World War II by dropping two nuclear bombs each on the Japanese military cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which resulted in mass destruction and many deaths.
Several years later in 1954, the U.S. was carrying out a nuclear test codenamed Castle Bravo. Fallout from this test at Bikini Atoll, part of the Republic of the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific, drifted over a Japanese fishing boat called the Daigo Fukuryu Maru (Lucky Dragon No. 5), and led to its occupants suffering from radiation sickness shortly after returning to Japan.
It was these two bombings, plus the later test and the resulting horror and destruction from both incidents, that led to the idea for Godzilla.

The Eighth Wonder of the World, King Kong, was brought to New York aboard the Venture by Carl Denham with his film crew. Denham intended to profit off of the discovery of the giant ape, and held him shackled in a theater in the city. During a point when observers were taking pictures with Ann Darrow, Jack Driscoll, and Carl Denham, King Kong became enraged thinking the observers were harming Ann, and the mighty beast broke free of his restraints. King Kong scoured the streets for Ann Darrow, causing havoc as he did so. Eventually, he came across her in a hotel room, and claimed her once again. As King Kong continued his rampage with Ann Darrow in tow, he was engaged by the police, causing him to retreat up the Empire State Building. However, atop the skyscraper, King Kong was engaged by biplanes armed with machine guns, which fired upon him. The Demon King of the Jungle fought off the planes, striking down some of them, but eventually succumbed to his wounds, and released Ann Darrow at the dome of the Empire State Building before falling from the top, dead.
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms
Following an American atomic bomb test in the Arctic Circle dubbed "Operation Experiment," a massive 100-million-year-old dinosaur called Rhedosaurus was awakened. The beast swam south along the east coast of the United States, destroying a lighthouse off the coast of Maine along the way. Not long after, Rhedosaurus surfaced in New York, causing havoc in the city. At night, the U.S. Military engaged the Rhedosaurus, and were able to wound the monster with bazooka fire. However, they had unwittingly unleashed an ancient and potent disease from within the dinosaur's body. However, a plan to kill the monster and the disease inside its body was formulated by firing a radionuclide into its body. The operation was carried out at a roller coaster on Coney Island, where the Rhedosaurus was attacking. After the radioactive isotope was fired into its body, the beast was killed, and it collapsed amid the destroyed amusement park.
Showa era
Destroy All Monsters
As part of the Kilaaks' invasion, they unleashed Godzilla on New York City, where he destroyed the United Nations Secretariat Building with his atomic breath.
Godzilla vs. Megalon
A nuclear test conducted in the Aleutian Islands, administered by the United States as part of Alaska, triggered a massive earthquake which crossed the Pacific Ocean, destroying Monster Island and critically damaging the capital city of Seatopia, motivating its people to plan an attack on the surface with their monster-god Megalon.
Heisei era
The Return of Godzilla
When Godzilla attacked and destroyed a Russian submarine, the Soviet Union accused the Americans. In response, the Japanese Government had to release their information on Godzilla to ease the rising tensions between the two nuclear world powers. The United States sent an ambassador to Japan to discuss the crisis, as did Russia. The American ambassador echoed the Russian ambassador's opinion that nuclear weapons should be used to defeat Godzilla. However, Mitamura, the Japanese Prime Minister, refused their demands and affirmed that the JSDF would defeat Godzilla, the American ambassador begrudgingly agreed to it. When the Soviet Nuclear Attack Satellite accidentally launched a nuclear missile at Tokyo after Godzilla attacked the Balashevo, the Americans launched a nuclear missile from their own satellite to neutralize the Soviet missile in Earth's atmosphere.
GODZILLA (1998)
Godzilla migrated from its French Polynesia home to New York City to find a place to lay eggs, engaging in a cat and mouse game with the U.S. military. After the nest of newly hatched Baby Godzillas was discovered in Madison Square Garden and destroyed, the enraged Godzilla was lured to the Brooklyn Bridge where it was trapped and killed with 12 missiles from a squad of F-18 Hornets.
Millennium era
Godzilla Final Wars
Rodan attacked New York City as part of the Xiliens' invasion, while Kumonga was unleashed in Arizona's Monument Valley. The Rumbling was used to intercept Rodan but was destroyed.
Cloverfield
Cloverfield
A monster attacked New York City, destroying many landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. The creature was attacked by the military with tanks and B-2 Spirit Stealth Bombers to little effect. As a last resort, the military leveled the city with a massive airstrike called the Hammerdown Protocol.

Godzilla (2014)
When the male MUTO left the Janjira power plant in Japan, it attacked a nuclear submarine and made landfall on Hawaii's Big Island to eat the radioactive material in peace in the tropical jungles. Monarch and the US Military engaged the creature, only to drive it towards the Honolulu airport. On the hunt for the creature after hearing its calls, Godzilla arrived on the island's shores, causing a tidal wave to sweep through the city streets. After fighting through the night, the male MUTO retreated and began following the mating calls of a female clutchmate, with Godzilla giving chase. This female MUTO, which had spent 15 years dormant in the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository in Nevada, proceeded to destroy Las Vegas and make her way along the California coast, with the three kaiju converging onto San Francisco. Battling into the night, Godzilla triumphed over the two monsters and swam out to sea in the morning.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
In the years that followed Godzilla's bout with the MUTOs in San Francisco, the city was left abandoned, and eventually became a lush rainforest, overrun with vegetation that grew to anomalous sizes as a result of residual radiation in the area.
After King Ghidorah survived the Oxygen Destroyer and recovered from a decapitation delivered by Godzilla in Isla de Mara, Mexico, he used his Alpha cry to awaken the slumbering Titans to destroy human civilization. The United States's awakened Titans included Scylla in Sedona, Arizona, a Queen MUTO in Hoboken, New Jersey, Tiamat in Georgia's Stone Mountain, and Abbadon in Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming. King Ghidorah would then proceed to fly north into the United States and attacked Washington, D.C. with Rodan before Madison Russell used the Orca to broadcast a signal from Boston's Fenway Park to calm the Titans and lure them over there. Boston would serve as the battlefield for Godzilla and Mothra's final showdown with the three-headed monster and Rodan. When Godzilla emerged triumphant from using his Burning Godzilla form to destroy King Ghidorah and most of the city with it, Rodan, Scylla, the Queen MUTO, Brazil's Behemoth and Germany's Methuselah would bow down in respect to the rightful King of the Monsters.
Godzilla vs. Kong
As Apex Cybernetics continued to develop the technology that would eventually be used in Mechagodzilla, they drew Godzilla's ire, and he came ashore at Pensacola in Florida to ravage one of their facilities, killing many people in the process and inflicting severe damage to the facility. Following Godzilla's attack, the United States Navy were sent to conduct a search for him, employing several naval vessels and a detachment of McDonnell Douglas F/A-18E Super Hornets to carry out the mission. Another fleet of ships were utilized to transport Kong to Antarctica as part of the mission to enter the Hollow Earth, though the fleet sustained substantial losses after Godzilla emerged to attack Kong in the Tasman Sea off the coast of Australia.

Shin Godzilla
While studying nuclear waste dumped in the Pacific Ocean during the 1950's by the United States, a Japanese scientist named Goro Maki theorized that it mutated an ancient marine lifeform. Goro Maki dubbed the creature "Godzilla," the name of which hailed from his home of Odo Island and meant "Incarnation of God." The United States Department of Energy discovered these studies.
In 2016, following Godzilla's sudden appearance in Japan, the United States President sent Japanese-American Kayoco Anne Patterson as a special envoy to meet with Rando Yaguchi and his team to arrange a deal, both parties sharing information between each other for their governments. Some time later, when Godzilla had assumed its fourth form and reached Tokyo, the United States dispatched B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to kill the monster. While they managed to wound it, Godzilla retaliated and destroyed the bombers with beams from his dorsal plates as it unleashed its wrath on the city. Concerned about the threat Godzilla posed, and possibly to burry their knowledge of Godzilla, the United States government called to fire a nuclear missile on Tokyo to kill Godzilla. However, Yaguchi's team was able to stall this to perfect Operation Yashiori, notably with the help of Kayoco Ann Patterson, who helped Yaguchi gain access to unmanned aerial vehicles and other supplies to aid in stopping Godzilla.
GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters
The first kaiju to appear was Kamacuras, which attacked New York in 1999, killing 2.5 million people during its rampage. Much later, Godzilla appeared in America, causing devastation throughout the country from coast to coast. A large scale nuclear assault was launched against the King of the Monsters, but it failed.

GODZILLA: Monster Apocalypse
Kamacuras attacked New York in 1999, becoming the first kaiju to attack humanity. Thirty-one years later in 2030, Godzilla revealed himself to the world, obliterating Los Angeles, where he killed Anguirus IV, Baragon II, and Varan II, as well as San Francisco before returning to sea. A few months later, Godzilla reemerged in Seattle, destroying the city and beginning a long march east across the United States. In desperation, the government launched 150 nuclear warheads at Godzilla, which only succeeded in making multiple states entirely uninhabitable, with Godzilla walking away unscathed into the Gulf of Mexico. In Godzilla's wake, Kumonga and multiple Kamacuras were sighted in America.
