Arachno Claw and Foetodon Question

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

So Why is GvK info about those two creatures kept on the pages if the VFX and production crew never adressed those creatures as such?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

The Godzilla vs. Kong English audio description uses both of those names.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Im aware of this already

but if the crew never called them that then shouldnt that not matter? and isnt that technically inaccurate?

Also in a similar situation japanese subs or audio description apparantly called Ultimas parasites Kumonga as well so why aint they on Kumongas page ?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

"Arancho-claw" and "Foetodon" are what wound up in an official version of the movie; what the crew called them before then is besides the point. Nozuki became Warbat late in the process too (and even Wingard struggled to use the new name).

Regarding Singular Point - that change should be made, I just keep forgetting to do it.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

So what should the monster apperance section on S.P call those guys now if thats the case i was gonna rename em but i dont know what to call em.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Since they don't have a distinct name, "Kumonga" will have to cover them.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

I ment to like specify them being kumongas on Godzilla and looking like Meganulon

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

That guy also mentioned that the Arachnos in GvK Wasnt invertebrates and said they have bones, claiming the VFX production art shows proved this.

What Vfx production art is he reffering to even?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

I dunno, ask him.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Done

Im intrested to see where he got that information.

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

I sent Zilla links one sec

LindenHS (talkcontribs)
LindenHS (talkcontribs)

I believe this is grounds to edit their page, but I’m on mobile and about to head to work so I’ll leave that up to Astounding and you to decide.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

We could include that they are not invertebrates in GvK

i do wonder if they are distantly related to mutos now given both are Vertebrates with Arthopod characteristics now

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

That… was brought up but never answered actually.

MUTO are distantly possibly related to mammals and the Rock Critters have hooves or the precursor to hooves anyway, so it’s up in the air.. though they seem to have nails or claws (bone) as well.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

The Muto mammal thing is honestly an exaggeration that they are vertebrates

they pretty much say they had bones = Mammal

which doesn't really work when you consider birds, reptiles, and amphibians are vertebrate's

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

I mean it does make sense if you notice the teeth and muscle movement in the heads, I’m pretty sure they are… just not modern mammals… like very early maybe even mammal-like reptiles, people forget early mammals like therapsids were very reptilian (like dimetrodon).

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

they have slight mandibles however

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

The MUTO? they don’t, got a top and bottom jaw that the lower opens like a snake, which is odd… means they have no connection at the front of the lower jaw.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

what

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

The MUTO have a jaw adaption similar to a snake specifically constrictors, not an insect mandible.

if you mean the Rock Critters it’s… actually something else but does look like a mandible… I’m not sure what to call it though.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

so that's how you call it

i didnt know how to describe it

LindenHS (talkcontribs)
Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Personally, I am not really open to changing the Arachno-claw or Foetodon names unless Legendary puts out a guidebook or a new story to the contrary. They go by a number of different names in different places - we went with the ones that are spoken in a version of the film for the page titles and acknowledge the others elsewhere on the page. (This exhibition should be mentioned on the Arachno-claw page, though I'd like to know where/what exactly it is.)

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

i also oppose moving them elsewhere unless future info says otherwise

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

This is an official exhibition and so that’s the name Legendary green lit

Les (talkcontribs)

An official exhibition *in Japan*. The Japanese theater program calls them "unidentified creature (rock creature)"... that would be 'greenlit' by Legendary too by the same logic.

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

True but Rock Critter is being used in an official display and that’s what cast and crew called them as well from what they said to me

Les (talkcontribs)

Warbat was called Nozuki by the crew, that's not really relevant. The movie's audio description is just as official.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

i tried telling him this over discord but i felt ignored.

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

It’s at the Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji in Japan. I think it’s a limited time event?

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

And you know this how?

Les (talkcontribs)

It's literally in the tweet

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

👆

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)
Les (talkcontribs)

That's not exactly a straight answer.

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

According to them the Rock Critters are not invertebrates, which is very clear given they have bones, something not found in invertebrates. As for the leg bit, they have “hooves” that they tiptoe on, if you look the feet are fused toes.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

@Les Couldn't this just be addressed in the Design section or triva?

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

well could it be at least addressed somewhere the Arachnos in GvK have vertebrate features somewhere? the comment this was one had turn around pics of the model and there was very obviously fleshy muscle on the chest and limbs different from a typical arthropod.

LindenHS (talkcontribs)

So the point is they are arthropod-like vertebrates. not arachnids, crabs, or any kind of arthropod.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Apparantly Linden says wingard wasnt aware of the arachno claw thing

However he doesnt seem to have any pics due to wingard deleting insta

Im confused how to resolve this i think the arachno claws design page dhould address the vertabrate characteristics.
