Project Capsule Kaiju)[a] is a Japanese web series organized by tokusatsu directors Shinji Higuchi, Katsuro Onoue, Kiyotaka Taguchi, Takanori Tsujimoto and Kazuhiro Nakagawa in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic. It ran from April 28 to May 13, 2020 on Higuchi's personal YouTube channel. Inspired by the Capsule Kaiju from Ultraseven, each episode consists of a compilation of submitted recordings from genre actors, staff and other special guests, depicting them imbuing a kaiju figure with the power to defeat COVID and passing it on to the next participant. Though Higuchi initially planned to edit them into one continuous film, it never materialized, and a film adaptation of the sister series The 12 Day Tale of the Monster that Died in 8 was produced instead. |
