It's time yet again for an extremely long post about a set of rules we staff members have come up with to more clearly define Wikizilla's scope. This one isn't terribly interesting, I think - it mostly just formalizes unwritten or dashed-off rules we've been following for years. Still, as before, we're opening the policy up to community review two weeks before it'll be voted on by the mod team. Please read it carefully and offer your unvarnished opinions:

Any individual who received two credits on media covered by Wikizilla may receive a page.

Individuals who have only received one credit on media covered by Wikizilla may still receive pages if...

  1. They served as a director, special effects director, visual effects supervisor, composer, sole screenwriter, #1 top-billed actor, or monster actor on a Godzilla, Gamera, or King Kong film.
  2. They served as the showrunner or show director of a Godzilla, Gamera, or King Kong TV/web series, or served as a director, writer, #1 top-billed actor, or monster actor on over half of the episodes of such a series.
  3. They have two or more roles on media that falls within the scope of Ultra Wiki, Pacific Rim Wiki, or Evangelion Wiki; stars giant monsters (excluding the Super Sentai and Power Rangers franchises due to the sheer volume of shows); or is a tokusatsu sci-fi/fantasy film produced by Toho or Daiei.
  4. They played a key role in the development of the Godzilla, Gamera, and/or King Kong franchises.

Individuals who have been determined to qualify under the fourth rule are listed below:

Under this policy, the following pages would be deleted:

Many of these people are associated with the Monsterverse; we've long been arbitrarily more permissive about who from those films can receive pages. Since the series is ongoing, however, all Monsterverse actors on this list will be moved to a single sandbox, so their pages can be quickly recreated if they reprise their roles. In addition, we plan to move Matthew Costello's interview to the King Kong: The Island of the Skull page, while Masahiko Katto's page will travel to the Fan-Made Kaiju Wiki.

A few other related initiatives in the works:

  1. The third rule listed above also describes what non-Wikizilla media should be listed in each person's selected credits. That means a lot of Evangelion credits to add in particular.
  2. We plan to split the mammoth Real People template into one for actors and another for staff. To reduce template size further, each person will only be named in one category each (whichever we determine describes that person's work on relevant media most).
  3. A new subpage type for media pages: interviews. These will be broken down by interviewee, then date (you can see a basic example here). Since we're now officially saying certain actors/staff can't have pages, this will allow any relevant interviews they've done to stay on the site, and of course be a valuable research tool in its own right.

So is John Goodman safe?

Also there is a sandbox for Ron Perlman Due to his role in both Pacific Rim and Monster Hunter and apparantly he voiced one of the Leviathan aliens from Godzilla the Series? https://wikizilla.org/wiki/User:OOM-9/Sandbox/Ron_Perlman

I'm not really sure this is fair. Some of these actors played major roles in the movies they were in (i.e. Vera Farmiga in KotM or Samuel L. Jackson in K:SI), and in my opinion that would make them qualify for a page, but whatever's best for the site works for me.

Agreed with mechagodzilla2008, i think playing a major role in a qualified movie should make them qualify, but whatever happens happens.

Why wouldn't John Goodman's page stick around? He was in two movies we cover, 10 Cloverfield Lane and Kong: Skull Island. That's all you need. Perlman was indeed in Godzilla: The Series (mentioned in the guide on SciFi Japan), so he's fine too. Outlander could go in his selected filmography too.

This was something we considered, but defining "major role" proved to be more trouble than it was worth. My take is that readers would be better-served by us just linking to those actors' Wikipedia pages. The interview page for the film they were in and their character's page should be enough to recognize their contributions.

I think a page for him can be justified by him also voicing in the video game.
