What I don’t get about Godzilla Kingdom of Monsters is that it satirizes and references a lot of the bad stuff in our society but doesn’t seem to want come up with a solution. The ending that gave hope to humanity was from a different writer who wrote the last four issues. I’m worried that if the original writer had his way, there would be no hope or change and humanity would have gone extinct. Even though the G54 wasn’t very optimistic, it at least told us how we can change (i.e don’t use nuclear weapons). What do you think?

Kingdom of Monsters just seems to me like an attempt to be edgy and pessimistic for the sake of being edgy and pessimistic that doesn't have any real payoff or merits so it just comes off as needlessly mean-spirited and nihilistic in the end. Some of that may be Toho's fault, since the writer clarified later that he had a much darker direction planned for the series before Toho shot down a lot of his ideas, leading to a more halfhearted final product. I don't think it would have mattered much, because if the writer had his way it probably still would have been pointlessly nihilistic and overly edgy.

I’ve noticed a lot of entertainment doing that lately. They put in these dark or “edgy” elements just to be edgy and not to give their art any actual meaning.
