I’m not very sure what the message of Godzilla 2014 is. On one hand it says we should respect nature or suffer consequences, but at the same time it seems to say nature will balance itself out. To me these messages seems conflicting, could someone explain?

"The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control, and not the other way around." Humanity successfully harnesses nuclear energy, but is powerless to stop the M.U.T.O.s who arrive to feed on it. Only Godzilla can defeat them. Likewise, there's no "fix" when a nuclear accident like Chernobyl or Fukushima takes place; all you can do is evacuate and wait for the radioactive isotopes to naturally decay.
