I'm just going to throw these on talk pages then. 'Zando' (残土) is the japanese work for 'waste earth dug up at a construction site' -- very appropriate for an underground digging monster with shovel claws. In addition zan (斬) means decapitated and this monster is notably headless. That might be nothing but a dora (ドラ) is a kind of hanging gong and the monster's introduction is marked by the rhymthic banging of a gong as it drills under the earth, so at least the sound design crew made the 'gong' connection.
