Shimo[3] is a reptilian Titan[2] that will appear in the upcoming 2024 Legendary Pictures film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.[3] It's existence was first alluded to in the 2022 Call of Duty collaboration with Godzilla vs. Kong, depicted as a cave painting battling Godzilla. It's exact role in the film is currently unknown.
Name
Shimo (霜) is a Japanese word meaning "frost" or "gray hair."
Early leaks and rumors for the film spelled the monsters name as Shimu which would be used as a popular pre-release spelling of the name within the Godzilla fandom.[1]
Design
While marketing for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has yet to reveal Shimo in full, Merchandise and renders depict Shimo as a reptilian monster with some similarities to Godzilla's evolved form possessing Stegosaurus-like thagomizers on the tip of it's tail and crystalline dorsal spines but quadrupedal with snow white colored scales and the dorsal spines on it's back appearing to be dark blue in coloration, these crystals also are on the creature's tortoise-like head forming a crown of sorts.
Abilities
Frost Bite Blast
Shimo is capable of releasing an ice breath attack known as the "Frost Bite Blast" in the Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire toyline by Playmates.[4] This blast is described as possessing the capability to freeze opponents.[2]
