IDK if you knew but apparently there's a new Cloverfield steelbook coming out on the day of the original films release date next year.
Highly Unlikely but could marketing for the next movie be somehow attached to it?

Didn't realize it used plagiarized Dopepope art, that's cringe. I agree that it's extremely unlikely to tie in with the new movie (especially if only France is getting it).

Actually i recall another instance of a Muto model he made being used at an expo booth for the MonsterVerse which feels really insulting considering he designed Tiamat for them
Joe barton mentioned the sequel in an interview for some unrelated project and gave some insight on the status of the film.
Q: "You’re also working on a “Cloverfield” sequel. Are you writing it with JJ?"
A: "No, I’m writing it on my own, JJ is a producer on it. So I go away and do my drafts and then he gives notes and the Bad Robot execs give notes, and then he’ll jump in occasionally and look at drafts and stuff. I imagine probably the next one, because Babak Anvari just came on to direct so we’re getting closer to production. I’m doing some revisions at the moment and the hope would be that this would be the last sort of big script push, and then we get on to actually making it."
Sounds like production will begin soonish?
