History

Godzilla: Save the Earth

Vorticia made her debut in Godzilla: Save the Earth, as the queen of the Vortaak and the game's main antagonist. She first appeared broadcasting a message to Earth on her plan to obtain "G-Cells," containers that encapsulate "the secrets of Godzilla's DNA," in order to create the ultimate monster. She sent an armada of ships and kaiju to Earth and instructed them to retrieve the G-Cells, even if it meant destroying everything in their path. However, Godzilla (or any monster the player chooses) defeated her army of monsters and completed several challenges. After her final monster was defeated, the Vortaak fled as Vorticia screamed in anger, vowing they would return

Godzilla: Unleashed

In Godzilla: Unleashed, Vorticia and the Vortaak returned to once again to invade Earth with their army of monsters; Gigan, Mechagodzilla, King Ghidorah, Orga, and Megalon. As the Vortaak Mothership approached Earth, she delivered a speech stating that the Vortaak had risen from the ashes of defeat and had come to wrestle control of Earth from humanity. She was confident that the Vortaak's resolve and technology would overcome the Global Defense Force and Earth's monsters. However, an alarm sounded and a member of the crew alerted her that their ship's sensors had detected an anomaly on the ship's aft quadrant. Suddenly, an asteroid materialized from the anomaly. Vorticia ordered evasive action, but it was too late and they were hit by the asteroid. She asked for someone to give her a damage report and was informed that it had damaged the ship's number 3 repulsion engine. Vorticia was forced to call off the invasion while they made repairs. While gazing at the asteroids heading towards Earth, she wondered if someone — or something — had its eye on her prize: Earth. While the ship was being repaired she sent her alien monsters and her army to Earth to investigate the crystals spawned by the meteors.

Vorticia noticed that Earth's monsters were gaining power from the power surge crystals and briefly wondered where they came from, before deciding that they should use them to strengthen their own monsters. She sent Vortaak monsters to Earth to steal the crystals, so that her own monsters would become more powerful.

In the "Invasion" mission, her men informed her that all the ship's repairs were complete and they were ready to begin the invasion. Voriticia told her men to activate the ship's cloaking field and set a course for Earth. She gave the order to unleash their monsters and told her army the time had come and for them to prepare to take Earth. The Mothership appeaed over San Francisco vanguarded by one of the Vortaak monsters. The Mothership was eventually destroyed, but Vorticia survived and continued to lead the Vortaak army and monsters against the other factions.

In the "Big Trouble" mission, her army finally gathered enough crystal radiation to make King Ghidorah invincible by making him achieve Critical Mass, and unleashed him on the city of Seattle. However, King Ghidorah was defeated by the player's faction.

In the Alien faction's default ending, following the defeat of SpaceGodzilla in the "Finale" mission, Miku stated the Vortaak had won and all hope was lost, while Vorticia overlooked the now conquered Earth, laughing. Alternatively if the player's Alien monster collected every power surge, they became too powerful and ended up fighting the other Aliens in the downed Vortaak Mothership. After defeating the other Alien monsters and breaking free of Vortaak control, it became the new dominate lifeform on Earth, and after reaching Critical Mass it faced off against the remaining factions' monsters, allowing the crystals to overrun Earth. Vorticia and the Vortaak's fate were unknown in this ending.

Trivia

  • In Godzilla: Unleashed, Vorticia wears a pair of bladed earrings and a cape. One of the unlockable pieces of concept art is a sketch of her head which points out her bladed earrings.
  • Though her goal is to use the power surge crystals to power up her Alien monsters, ironically, collecting every power surge will cause alien monsters to turn against their masters, which leads to the "Tyrant" ending. This indicates that Vorticia is ignorant of the dangers the crystals pose.
