ABB said that the comments section will get deleted, looks like we're going to have to use the forums or talk pages to communicate, not like people do that anyways.

He said they were thinking about it, so it's not official, yet.

but like seriously, shooting the wikizilla community dead like that is one of the stupidest things i've heard since anti-maskers. what is the goal of this? what is the point? many recent decisions made by the admins have been misguided at best, and idiotic at worst. instead of doing things the community actually wants (like making images easier to add to comments), they decide on these youtube-esque management choices.

Given the tone, I'll keep my statements brief: comments are simply not worth the hassle. There are hundreds of comments left every day, many of them low quality but very difficult to comb through, especially when there are only two admins actively monitoring the site. I assume you consider the Scope rules to be another entry on that list of our "idiotic" decisions, but risking sounding selfish, these things are necessary for us, else we will be overrun. And it's still getting to that point even after changes!

Comments are also fundamentally and irreparably broken once they extend past one page long. You say that we could just add more features as if it that's easy, but we do not code this website. It runs on preexisting software and we have to cough up significant funds (into the quadruple digits) to a team of technicians in order to fix or expand on most anything. I know it's a big decision and some people will certainly leave because of it, but we're working behind the scenes to make the transition as smooth as possible.

"Shooting the community dead" is unbelievably uncharitable and I find the YouTube comparison hurtful. I'm sorry that we are understaffed and struggling to keep a rapidly-expanding website from overtaking our lives.

Personally, I feel that having the comments is simply a privilege, not a right. Most wikis that I know don't even have a comments feature, and I don't know if they've ever had one to begin with, so it's not too far for Wikizilla to eventually abandon them. Given the choice, though, and assuming I have a say, I vote for keeping the comments.

However, I feel that a compromise would be only having comments on user pages, or each user would have a limited number of comments per day, since there are users who spam comments without contributing to the wiki. Though the former is really just redundant of the user's talk pages...

If we were to go with the latter option, we would need people promoted to monitoring comments to make sure that a user is not spamming. But hey, I'm just a user who's only been on the site for roughly a year, so do as you want, admins. In the end, this is your site, and we're just contributors.

Hi! When I said stupid decisions, I was mostly talking about the design pages. Obviously, I don’t know all that much about adding features, so I guess I overstepped on that comment. I still think the comments should stay, but I retract my other statements.

I have to say, I wouldn't be opposed to this change. The comment sections in pages can become complete eyesores to look at. They can turn into jumbled messes with merged reply sections that make reading them very confusing. I feel like forums are a lot more organized.

forums are definentley more organized but at least stop people from making comments, the comments can actually be really important and we get lots of updates on godzilla stuff, many people have contributed by finding out new content for godzilla with it, helping us expand this wiki and yes, i know comments can be bad, immature, stupid, or straight up disgusting, i vote to keep comments as they can help us and help the community grow besides, im not familiar with the forums format either so this is more jumbled up and crazy than comments for me

Question: How do you view the pages in forums that are in between the first and last?

For example: If a forum has 3 pages, I can only access 01 and go to 03, no in between.

You would edit the URL to say "page=2" instead of "page=3". (This is one of the biggest fixes the forums need before we'll be ready to phase out page comments.)
