I beg to differ; I've looked at the screenshots and the name is actually written as American International-Television. It's all right there in living color if you care to look.

You'll find that all of the title cards attached below lack a hyphen. A link to whatever you're talking about would be appreciated.

Sorry, I wasn't too specific. I'm talking about the opening company logo card that always comes before the films' title cards.

You need to provide evidence of this. To my knowledge, there was never an American International Television logo which used a hyphen. This picture shows every AITV logo used in tokusatsu releases -- none have the name hyphenated. (The second from the top at right has a registered trademark symbol between "International" and "Television," but it's not a hyphen.)

None of the additional logos seen here include a hyphen either.

Rob Craig's book American International Pictures: A Comprehensive Filmography uses "American International Television" and "AITV," both sans hyphen; he does this throughout an entire chapter devoted to AITV. The only references to "AI-TV" in his book come from reprinted trade blurbs. That does give legitimacy to the hyphenated acronym but not the full name. But since both acronym with and without hyphen were used by the company, I don't think we can conclude with any certainty that one trumps the other. However, on this site, we need to be consistent, which is why we've stuck with AITV, the acronym used throughout Craig's book (which, I think considering the extent of his research is valid enough reason).

Similarly, Craig occasionally uses "American-International Pictures" in his text, but nowhere near as often as the more familiar "American International Pictures"; certainly he doesn't use the hyphenated variant enough to warrant changing every instance of the latter on this site.

Finally, you should consult the staff here before undertaking all-encompassing changes like this, first to verify that the change will be accepted, second so that it doesn't require a bunch of individual edits to revert the work.

The 1966-1968 opening logo was the one that all the Kaiju films used. I thought there was a hyphen in that one, but it appears I was wrong. I'm sorry about that.

Only War of the Monsters; Majin, The Monster of Terror; Return of the Giant Monsters; and The X from Outer Space used that logo, as illustrated in this picture, so only about 27% of the kaiju/tokusatsu films released by AITV. The only one of these films I have without an AITV logo attached is Dagora, but I've been told by a reliable source that it opened with the first logo at the top right. (However, since I couldn't confirm that myself, I left it out of the image.)

I also included Super Monster because that was distributed by AIP's successor, Filmways. And also because it balanced the image.
