Dawn of the Monsters and other Concerns

Summary by Les

Dawn of the Monsters will not be covered on Wikizilla.

You are a bureaucrat here, so I come to you to present this case. I am asking for permission to create a "Dawn of the Monsters" page, as well as pages for some of its characters. I have just read the Wikizilla Scope beforehand.

Dawn of the Monsters (2022) is a game which can exist here due to the three following justifications I hope you take into consideration:

  1. It is VERY heavily influenced by Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman, Evangelion, Pacific Rim, King Kong, and many others, there's a lot of confirmation of this from the team, the game's credits, and the game's official pages. That is condition #1 of video game inclusion, right? "Be based on a film or series covered by the site, or the Godzilla, Gamera, or King Kong franchises generally. Unlicensed games that meet this condition must demonstrate significant historic importance; they will not be considered for inclusion under the other rules." There are even deep cuts referencing more obscure kaiju, like Dagahra and Bagan.
  2. It has much of a right to exist on this wiki as the comic Kaijumax (which has an existing page on this wiki, despite only referencing Godzilla, Ultraman, and other kaiju media). Zander Cannon, the creator of that series, is also involved in this game. And while the Wikizilla Scope has unfortunately not explained much about what comics are allowed (though I assume the same conditions for video games permitted the inclusion of Kaijumax), the scope clearly defines what video games are allowed, and I explained above why this qualifies.
  3. It may not be enough justification on its own, but it helps support the other two above that this game has been worked on by people officially involved in the Godzilla franchise. Shinji Nishikawa, Yuji Kaida, E.J. Su, and Matt Frank.

And so, I am hoping that permission is given regarding the creation of the page "Dawn of the Monsters".

What monsters are allowed on this wiki anyway? After all, it seems like, for GigaBash, anything that is further away from Godzilla is excluded. It explains why Rawa (being Godzilla-based) and Gorogong (King Kong-based) have pages, but Thundatross, Gigaman, Kongkrete, R.O.J.A.K., Balzarr, etc, are not here (or are they allowed, and their pages are simply incomplete in sandbox?)... yet, Woolley, Skorak, and Rohanna were permitted. I don't see anything in the scope that explains the specifics regarding kaiju that are not from the approved franchises.

Anyway, I'm sorry for the big message, but I hope you take it all into consideration. Good day/night.

"Based on a film or series covered by the site, or the Godzilla, Gamera, or King Kong franchises generally" means that the game is either adapting a movie or show we cover on the site, or is an official entry in the Godzilla, Gamera, or Kong franchises. Dawn of the Monsters is neither, so it does not qualify. Apologies on the lack of rules for comics, which are upcoming; Kaijumax will definitely be disqualified for similar reasons, though.

Any monster (within reason) from something we give full coverage can have a page here. Many video games on the site are only here because of collaborative events with Godzilla, and it would be a little ridiculous to cover everything about them when they are irrelevant otherwise. But GigaBash is given full coverage because it is actually a giant monster game even without the DLCs: "Narrow the coverage of these games to focus on the collaboration or DLC, unless the playable characters in the base game are primarily or entirely giant monsters." So yes, the full roster from GigaBash should have pages, any that aren't up yet just aren't finished.

So it goes the other way around then, and Kaijumax shouldn't be here. The page has been lingering on this site for years, and I was kind of confused why it was allowed. I mean, the page was very much bare bones from the start. Apparently, one of the comments there said its deletion has been considered on Discord, but thinking about it, shouldn't it be deleted now anyway for being completely unrelated to what this wiki is supposed to cover in a general sense?

Les (talkcontribs)

Because the Toho references in Kaijumax are so numerous, we plan to convert the page into a list of them instead of straight deleting it.

GildeathV01D (talkcontribs)

Out of curiosity, is the list its own page, or will it be a subpage of the homage/spoof page?
