Dragon Ball
Both the manga and the anime versions of Dragon Ball have a few references to the Godzilla series. The creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Tomiyama, has also referenced Godzilla in other works of his.
Monster cameos
- Baragon - He makes an cameo in the episode "Master Thief".
- King Ghidorah - He makes a cameo in the crowd at the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament in the episode "Tail's Tale", appearing slightly taller than a human. He also appears in Wonder Island.
- Rodan - He makes a short appearance in "Mystery of the Dark World".
- Godzilla - He makes a cameo as a suit in Wonder Island. In the episode "The Emperor's Quest", a creature that somewhat resembles Godzilla appears on a TV. The same creature appeared 29 years later in the film Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'
- Gamera - Makes an appearance as a juvenile, who transports Master Roshi around by flight. Gamera also appears as a recurring background character in Toriyama's other series, Dr. Slump. The same version of Gamera appears in the Dragon Ball episode "Strange Visitor", during the latter's crossover with Dr. Slump.
Similar characters
- Great Apes - These are similar to King Kong. The same name would be used for a race of monsters in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024), although this appears to be a coincidence.
- Hirudegarn - Some of his abilities could be seen as a parody of Mothra. He cocoons himself after being attacked by Gotenks at a tower.
