The Drownviper[2] is an eel-like monster that inhabited a lake deep in the Hollow Earth in the 2024 Legendary Pictures film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
Design
The Drownviper has a serpentine, navy blue body with yellow stripes along its sides and a white underbelly. It also sports spiked fins on the top of its head, while smaller spikes go down the length of its body. The Drownviper also has a shark-like head, with sharp, needle-like teeth. The Drownviper also has teeth protruding out of its tongue.
Behavior
The Drownviper is very territorial, shown when it attacked Kong almost immediately after he and Suko entered its lake.
History
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire
When Kong and Suko ventured to a lake, Suko splashed water to attract the Drownviper, whom attacked Kong in the lake. Kong then used his axe to try and stop the creature from hitting him, but the Drownviper constricted Kong, dragging him underwater. Suko took the opportunity to flee, but Kong's axe flew out in front of him and tripped him. When Suko got back up, the head of the Drownviper fell right next to him. Being an aquatic animal, the Drownviper is an excellent swimmer, and is incredibly nimble in the water.
