They are forced to report their findings to the military, whom they aid in coming up with strategies to defeat the monster. They eventually discover that there are two Gargantuas, one of which is a docile mountain-dwelling creature, and the other is the one who attacked the ships. Her life is saved by the mountain Gargantua, who she recognizes, and it recognizes her. eventually, Gaira begins to terrorize [[Tokyo]], and Sanda begins to follow him. knowing that if he enters the city he will be killed, Akemi tries to use her mother-like influence over the kaiju to turn him away.
