| Upon arriving in the New World Artemis and her team discover the remains of the missing Bravo team of which appeared to have been scorched by flames so hot it turned the surrounding sand into glass | | As Artemis reawakens on Earth, the Rathalos emerges and attacks the Osprey, crashing it in the process. The military's forces engage in combat with the wyvern, only to be completely decimated. Artemis emerges from the wreckage and uses her slinger to soar up onto the monster's wing before slicing all the way down. Rathalos, enraged by this, charges its fire breath, leaving an opening for Artemis to fire an ignited explosive in its mouth using her slinger. Upon impact, several internal explosions go off inside the wyvern’s body. The dragon collapses, leading Artemis to believe it is dead. However, the Rathalos rises up once more and approaches her. Before the monster can crush her in its jaws, the hunter arrives and unleashes a salvo of explosive arrows. One manages to strike a large open wound in the Greater Rathalos’ neck, causing it to explode and kill the giant wyvern once and for all. |

| Sometime later during Artemis and The Hunter’s Journey to the [[Sky Tower]] the Rathalos appears raiding the oasis setting fire to a herd of [[Apceros]] causing a stampede presumably to deter the duo from advancing to its lair however the two make it out of the stampede with the Help of The Admiral and the Sandship Crew,

| After the Admiral knocks artemis out initially distrusting her The Admiral speaks to Artemis Explaining that the Rathalos is a creature that was placed by a long dead ancient civilization to guard the Sky Tower stating that these monsters are almost impossible to kill and it's only weakness is before it breathes fire The Admiral ask for Artemis's help in slaying the beast and with a way to get her home in return.

| The next day the Group sets off Trekking to the Sky Tower and arrive at night the group discovers glass shards on the ground taking this as a sign that the Rathalos is present in the area the group then spreads out scouting the area and the sky above in a attempt to draw out the Wyvern as the thunderous beating of giant wings can be heard and the outline of a Dragon can be seen in the storm clouds above suddenly two hunters are set ablaze by fire from above as the Monster flies down and pearchs itself on two pillars letting out a shrieking roar and spots Artemis and The Hunter Hiding underneath rubble it approaches charging up its flame breath with the intent of incinerating them only for The Admiral to Shout averting the Wyvern’s attention away from the duo changing its focus to the admiral as he unleashes a wave of flames from his Axe the Wyvern Dodges this by flying and then counters this by unleashing its own flames as it flies off but The Admiral quickly is able to get behind a pillar avoiding incineration

| As the Dragon circles back around Artemis and The Hunter step out from the rubble along with The Admiral who Charge forward to do battle with the Titanic Wyvern with The Admiral unleashing Another Wave of Flame energy this time hitting the Beast causing it to recoil allowing Artemis And the Hunter an opportunity to approach the Monster from the side

| The Rathalos once more charges its Breath while the Hunter fires off an explosive arrow aimed at its Mouth only for the Creature to close its mouth and move its head causing the arrow to hit the side of its head

| Artemis fends off the Beast with her dual blades slicing through its wing membrane causing it to shriek in pain all the while smaller pillars struck by lightning begin to light up

| While Lea and Aiden rush in to join the fight Lea Fires her slinger hitting the monster in the face while Aiden gets Incapcitated by a strike from the monsters spiked clubbed tail the runway of pillars now all activated a portal to earth has now appeared behind the Wyvern as Artemis continues to battle the monster with her dual blades The Handler rushes in an attempt to assist in the fight only to be knocked away by its wing while the hunter fires another explosive arrow this time into the side of the monster allowing an opening for artemis to slice the monsters chin provoking it to open its mouth where she stabs the inside of it only to be sent flying knocked back by the monsters wing landing near the ledge of a cliff losing her dual blades in the process

| As Artemis turns around the Rathalos advances upon her charging its breath with little options left Artemis runs off the cliff jumping into a portal as the Dragon unleashes its fire

| Artemis Reawakens back on [[Earth]] where she is medically evacuated by a U.N Osprey as ground forces and more Ospreys arrive as it lifts off another portal in the sky opens the Rathalos emerges and tears out the cockpit of the Osprey crashing it in the process the stationed ground Military forces engage in combat with the Monster only to be decimated by the Wyverns flames a duo of Ospreys engage the monster only for one to be shot down by the Wyverns Fireball causing it to crash into the other osprey destroying them both.

| The Rathalos then turns its attention to an AWACS high above the area tearing its wings off crashing the plane in a fiery explosion the Rathalos then lands roaring and letting out a continuous stream of fire in a gesture of victory over the Machines

| Artemis emerges from the wreckage sprinting full speed at the monster with the using her slinger to soar up onto the monsters wing causing it to roar in pain

| Artemis initially believes the Monster is dead only for it to to regain itself rising up once more approaches her emitting enraged roars but before the monster can crush her in its jaws the hunter arrives unleashing a salvo of explosive arrows one of which manages to strike a large open wound in the Monster’s neck causing it to explode this finally killing the Monster

Greater Rathalos (リオレウス, Rioreusu, lit. Liolaeus) is a flying wyvern kaiju featured in the 2020 film, Monster Hunter. It is based on the monster species of the same name from the Capcom Monster Hunter video game franchise, however it is notably larger in the film.
Design
Rathalos is a reptilian dragon-like monster with beige membraneous wings and an eagle-like posture. The wyvern's armored scales are red in color, with black stripes throughout its length. Additionally, jagged markings creep down its wings. Its tail is moderately-sized with a spiked club at its tip.
