Talk:The Man from K.O.N.G.

From Wikizilla, the kaiju encyclopedia

To stay consistent with Godziban, I think the a-part and b-part of each episode of The King Kong Show should be on the same page.--Astounding Beyond Belief (talk) 13:36, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

I could go either way. Some differences you could point out are that Godziban segments are short-form and consecutive—contained in a single video, at that—while the Kong segments are as long or longer than entire Godziban episodes and were broken up by Tom of T.H.U.M.B. The latter point makes me feel weird even calling them segments instead of separate episodes, but the Madman DVD I have says it contains eight episodes (actually 16 segments), and the SciFi Japan writeup numbers them that way too 🤷‍♂️. If we want to look to other sites, SpongeBob SquarePants also airs two episodes per day, and both Wikipedia and the SpongeBob wiki treat them as two segments of the same episode while still giving them separate pages. Wikipedia only has pages for a handful, but presumably the logic is the segments are so distinct that they can be evaluated for pageworthiness independent of their other halves. --Les (main | talk) 17:28, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
Addendum: I noticed there's uncertainty between the SFJ article and DVD releases about whether the Tom of T.H.U.M.B. installments are episodes or if they and the Kong installments form episodes collectively. SFJ subscribes to the latter philosophy; e.g., "episode 1" was Kong's "Under the Volcano", Tom's "For the Last Time, Feller...I'm Not Bait!", and Kong's "The Treasure Trap". The packaging on the Classic Media DVDs meanwhile reads, "4 BIG EPISODES OF TOM of T.H.U.M.B." but otherwise only alludes to "eight thrilling half-hour programs" (that must include Tom to reach 30 minutes). As mentioned, the Madman DVD calls the Kongs episodes, but also does the same for Tom. Ultimately this rambling is not too important, but I think if Tom were to be considered part of the episodes, combining the Kong installments into single pages would make the lack of Tom more distracting than if they were separate. --Les (main | talk) 18:12, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
Splitting them up seems sounds then. I checked a couple other wikis for modern shows with similar structures - Steven Universe and Star vs. the Forces of Evil - and found that they also split up the episodes.--Astounding Beyond Belief (talk) 21:23, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
