Don't delete the list of female kaiju

We've re-worked this list to be more relevant to this site A LONG TIME AGO and the list covering Godzilla only female monsters doesn't cover the wider subject in that same current relevance, I just think the younger Godzilla fans crying for its deletion are basing their assumptions from the earliest now long defunct version of the list, comments related to that from long ago, or the subject matter offends their sensibilities somehow. I'm trying to be civil but the idea is moronic IMO. It's a good damn list.

I am a fan of female Kaijū personally. I am female by birth, and have no reason to be offended by the subject matter. I simply find it complicated because there is controversy about whether some of the Kaijū are actually female. Like the New Mothra/Mothra Leo is Female in Japan but considered Male by the English dub, causing controversy. Or the Hedorah having gender at all is in debate aside from a video game source, which I don’t know if that is credible enough.

In all honesty, I don’t care that much the status of the list, but just find it a little bit silly to have around.

Every monster on the list has been confirmed female through official source in and out of the films and ignoring erroneous examples that confuses regular mainstream and casual kaiju fans, hence why Mothra Leo, Hedorah, or Destorayah is not included despite numerous attempts by the aforementioned people in the past. The list also make notes when the situation is a bit more complicated like with the 1998 American Godzilla (an amphibious egg layer of two interchanging biological genders) or the Gypsy Danger mecha (honorary referred to as female in the old nautical tradition and in multiple incidents by the human characters).

Mahayana-60 (talkcontribs)

I guess so. I am just finding more and more of these Western contrasts I never heard of growing up so bizarre.

Les (talkcontribs)

I think its usefulness stems from the fact that most monsters don't have a confirmed gender, and are consequently assumed to be male by default (Ghidorah, Megalon, Baragon, whoever). So collecting a list of monsters who do actually have a confirmed gender, and the more uncommon of the two at that, is mildly interesting.

Mahayana-60 (talkcontribs)

That is a good point.

i Really hope I'm not barging in but i just honestly think theres more pressing things on the site that should be worked on rather than this list honestly

pretty low priority if you ask me.

Les (talkcontribs)

The page is only edited once every few months. I don't see what the fuss is about

Enshohma (talkcontribs)

No offense but you were positively placating Mechagodzilla2008 less than two days ago on its possible deletion and, based on the replies in this same thread and elsewhere, it's obvious that the majority of mainstream Godzilla fans don't even read the list in detail, assuming it to be filled with BS fan-crap like the Destroyah / Hedorah controversies. Obviously, better minds behind this site have ignored such fan-wank nonsense and only included kaiju / characters confirmed to be female and make much needed notes where the individual situations are complicated such as 1998 American Godzilla (an amphibious egg layer of two interchanging biological genders) or the Gypsy Danger mecha (honorary referred to as female in the old nautical tradition and in multiple incidents by the human characters). I needed to speak up because no one else was defending the list's merits

Les (talkcontribs)

I did not "positively placate" him. One of his two core arguments were that "half the stuff on it we don't cover", which I denied, and then he closed the thread. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not particularly invested in the list, but I have no intention of deleting it.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

i never replied to him on that thread.
