Professor Miura was summoned after a flood to a coastal town to investigate a gargantan egg that had washed ashore. Shortly after arriving he was approached by the reporters [[Ichiro Sakai]] and [[Junko Nakanishi]]. While he was initially hesitant to give away any detaile of his investigation, he warmed up quickly. No sooner had he begun to take a sample of the eggshell than were they approached by a businessman who told them that he owned the egg, so they the continued the interview at a hotel lobby, where they noticed the businessman checking in. Junko gave him a sample of shrapnel from the floodplain to identify, and Ichiro then went to listen to his conversation with his boss, but was forced to leave, and in the surrounding forest he met up with Junko and Miura and they were approached by the [[Shobijin]]. The fairies begged Junko and her friends to get the egg back to [[Mothra]], and Ichiro began to write stories about the injustice of the egg's purchase, accompanied by Junko's photographs. Much to the dismay of all parties involved in the deal, the stories had no effect on the situation, and the Shobijin returned to Infant Island empty handed. Around that time, Miura had successfully analyzed the shrapnel and found that it was radioactive. The three then went back to the floodplain to take more tests, but [[Godzilla/Showa|Godzilla]] rose out of the ground and solved the mystery for them. The three then traveled to Infant Island to get Mothra's help in defeating Godzilla to keep the egg, and the people safe. After a bit of convincing, the Infant Islanders agreed to the loan of Mothra, and she came to defend her egg. During the fighting, It became known to them that a teacher and ten students were trapped on the island where the monsters were, and they sailed out to rescue them. after the larval Mothras defeated Godzilla, Miura and the others watched them swim away victorious.
