King Ghidorah (キングギドラ,   Kingu Gidora), also known as Monster Zero (モンスターゼロ,   Monsutā Zero), is a three-headed dragon kaiju who appears in the 2019 web series Godziban, specifically its Go! Go! Godzilla-kun segments.

An extraterrestrial monster bearing an uncanny resemblance to the combined form of the Three Dorat Brothers, Monster Zero was summoned to Earth by the Xilien Lei Lei and battled against the other King Ghidorah already menacing Godzi Godzi Island. During their battle, the two Ghidorahs' gravity beams rained down and injured the other monsters. Finally, Godzilla-kun, Anguirus, and Rodan joined forces to defeat both King Ghidorahs, sending Monster Zero retreating back to outer space with Lei Lei.

Name

Officially, this monster's name is King Ghidorah, a name he shares with the combined form of the Three Dorat Brothers. The Xilien Lei Lei refers to him as Monster Zero (モンスターゼロ,   Monsutā Zero), which was the Xiliens' name for King Ghidorah in Invasion of Astro-Monster as well as Monarch's initial designation for him in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. She calls him Zero-chan (ゼロ号ちゃん,   Zerogō-chan) for short, though the English-subtitled uploads of the show simply translate this name as "Monster Zero" as well.

Design

Monster Zero's design is based on the original Showa design of the character, which is noted by Little who comments on his face-off against his Heisei-inspired counterpart as a "dream match-up for those who are into monsters".

Trivia

  • The existence of two Ghidorahs possesing the Showa and Heisei designs has previously appeared in Godzilla: Rulers of Earth. While in this comic series, King Ghidorah's appearance is retconned into the 1991 design, setting up his conversion into Mecha-King Ghidorah by the Cryogs, Rhizon reveals the existence of multiple Ghidorahs in issue #24, where he recalls how another Ghidorah, possessing the design of the Showa incarnation, laid waste to the Cryog homeworld.
