Option C: Nadda

Infobox images need to include the full body; those only show his top half. The current infobox pic does this much better. --- Cohozilla (talk) 23:00, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

C from me. I don't see the need for a new image. --Les (main | talk) 18:57, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Monsterverse Kong's image on his main page feels out of date, and the purple lighting in his current infobox image is kind of tiring to look at. --GojiraBoy1000 T (talk) 5:12, 7 January 2025 (EST)

Kong's model in Monarch

The idea that Kong's appearance was tweaked seems to be a redux of debates from the first season, where some people thought the 2014 Godzilla model was similarly modified in the Castle Bravo scene. However, we couldn't find any evidence in interviews back then, and the situation appears similar now. From a VFX Voice article:

"Kong and Godzilla received upgrades for the sophomore season. 'We see Kong in Episode 201 substantially,' [visual effects supervisor Sean] Konrad notes. 'He's in Episodes 206 and 209. We created environmental versions of their look development to make them feel they fit into the place. In Episode 201, when we see Kong sleeping in the forest, we added dirt and chunks of debris matted into his fur.'"

I haven't exhaustively surveyed S2 interviews, however, so there may be more information out there.--Astounding Beyond Belief (talk) 14:04, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

Some more from Konrad from his ongoing AMA:

"We basically used the asset from Godzilla vs. Kong but with some of the shader improvements on the fur that Eyeline (VFX Studio) had to do for Godzilla X Kong - but did do a lot of tweaks and added dust/debris/etc. depending on the scene. Rodeo FX also handled Kong in some scenes and they had to add some details to his fingers in the sleeping scene. A lot of any perceptual look differences really comes down to the lighting and grade on Skull Island. A lot of the same teams from GvK and GxK at Eyeline worked on all three projects and we were glad to have their Kong expertise. I’m happy we did a little more Quadruped run stuff with him and I like when he can switch stances naturally as part of traversal or a fight. One shot we actually had him cycle through that a couple of times and it was a fun way to make him seem energetic."

He says more explicitly here that they started from the GvK model and made only small changes. They can't have been that noticeable if he chalks up "a lot of perceptual look differences" to "lighting and grade." --Les (main | talk) 17:05, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

We kind of need a talk about Kong's adult weight

With what someone says in the new finale of MLOM, it is kind of necessary that we visit the topic. The note probably needs to be added to or something of the sort.

Done. --Les (main | talk) 16:37, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
