Second appearance of Mechani-Kong on The King Kong Show

I think it should be known that Mechani-Kong appeared in another episode of The King Kong Show...the last one, Episode 25, "Anchors Away", to be precise. If this could be included here, this article would have everything about the character.(talk) 02:04, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

I'd never heard of him being in another episode. It's kind of hard to write about something that's lost media. Unless you have a copy of the episode? Where did you hear Mechani-Kong was in it? Les (main | talk) 03:11, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
I watched practically the entire series on the Wee Willie Webber Colorful Cartoon Club that was on WPHL-TV Channel 17 from 1965-1975 and from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday to Friday in Philadelphia, PA when I was a kid. In "Anchors Away", at the end of the episode Kong used Captain Englehorn's new boat anchor (hence the title) to destroy a second version of Mechani-Kong he was fighting by smashing it into pieces with his bare hands down to its head and shoulders with Dr. Who still inside its control room, after which it was carried away by two helicopters with cables attached to it (just like its predecessor's previous appearance in the earlier episode "MechaniKong") after Who called them to come and get him out of there. Once again, as in the episode the first version of the robot appeared in, the Bonds and Captain Englehorn had no idea that it was Dr. Who who created this second version of Mechani-Kong in the first place (why they never did in both cases, I'll never know). Unfortunately, that's all I remember about the plot of the episode. However, I also remember Mechani-Kong's appearance in that episode: sleek brown with a light tan muzzle and hinged lower jaw with pointed teeth, light tan hands and fingers and light tan feet and toes, light tan segments on its joints and midsection, two black squares for eyes and the same window (dark green in this version of the robot) and control room in the top of its head as before, just as the article kinda-sorta describes it. If you want to see a picture of this version of Mechani-Kong, look up the article "KING KONG Cartoon Series Guide" on SciFi Japan (UPDATE: I know now that the picture in the aforementioned article comes from a Japanese manga story, but believe me when I say that is also exactly how he looked in the episode). Unfortunately again, a detailed synopsis of the episode's plot is not available on the article as of now.(talk) 21:48, 11 July 2021 (UTC)(talk) 23:17, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
Another question connected to this: how much of The King Kong Show is considered to be lost? Like I said above, I watched practically the entire series on TV and that was at least in the early to mid-1970s. What I'd like to know is: what happened, when did it happen and how did it happen?(talk) 17:13, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Les made a chart of all the episodes we've found. I don't doubt that the others are sitting in an archive somewhere - Classic Media planned a third DVD volume - but no one's bothered to put them in front of the public again.--Astounding Beyond Belief (talk) 20:21, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks! That helps a little bit. I can't believe that much of the series is missing after all these years (I shudder to think what might've happened to all the "Tom of "T.H.U.M.B." episodes that are missing, let alone all the "King Kong" episodes). I'm glad I watched it when I did! It's also amazing that the Volume 3 DVD - which would've included the episode "MechaniKong", obviously - was announced but never released. Who owns the rights to the series now, I wonder? (UPDATE 2: I just found out the series is currently owned by Comcast/NBCUniversal after they acquired the libraries of both Dreamworks Animation and Classic Media, which includes, among other things, The King Kong Show.)(talk) 02:42, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
I just watched a two-part episode reviewing the 40 episodes of Godzilla: The Series on a website called Paper Finz (it was very well done, btw) and at the end of Part 2, it was announced that The King Kong Show is going to be reviewed soon! Les, ABB, maybe this'll give you the information on "Anchors Away" you both need. I'll keep you posted.(talk) 03:17, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
Well, I just watched the Paper Finz review episode of The King Kong Show, and it was well done, but unfortunately, it didn't show "Anchors Away" because, apparently, it's still lost. Does anyone else besides me remember watching the series on the above-mentioned afternoon kid's show back in the day and seeing this episode so that we can finally have conformation of Mechani-Kong's second appearance in it?(talk) 05:37, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
I think I can guess why Dr. Who could never be seen through the windows of the control rooms in the two Mechani-Kongs' heads (except by we, the viewers, of course). They were probably two-way mirrors: clear glass on one side, but mirrors on the other side. The shiny mirrors blended with the shiny metal, so that's probably why no one could see him up there, including Kong, the Bonds and Captain Englehorn. What do you all think?(talk) 03:44, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

Missing sound effect on Mechani-Kong Roars and Sound Effects video

I've listened to the above video and noticed one sound effect is missing from it - the electronic noise that goes "beep-beep-beep-beeeeep-beeeeep" and repeats itself over and over again while Mechani-Kong is active. If this could be included into the video, it would have everything it needs to have. Can it be done, please?(talk) 22:08, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

I see it still hasn't been done yet. Can it even be inserted into the video, or is there just not enough room on it for this to be done?(talk) 03:33, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
YouTube videos can't be altered in that way once they've been uploaded. Best to create a new video yourself.--Astounding Beyond Belief (talk) 16:20, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
