I reached out to Les about the Monsterverse Godzilla being categorized as a "god" (which I'm assuming is the reason for the discussion on the category's Talk page), but he hasn't responded yet. Can I get your opinion on this?

The "god" moniker seems appropriate. You can see people venerating him in the King of the Monsters mural (more clearly in the VFX breakdown), which Chen reacts to by saying, "They really were the first gods." Mike Dougherty also said of Serizawa, "In my mind, this version of the character is correcting that mistake by saving his god."
The opening paragraph says MV godzilla was worshiped as one and it was pointed out in murals and flashbacks in dominion he had worshipers, so not sure why him being worshipped is being dismissed as speculation

The theatrics are unnecessary.
I guess I'll also drop my response here - my objection was to the suggestions that Godzilla having a temple, people bowing to him in Dominion, and him being called "God of Destruction" in GvK marketing are proof that he should be called a god. It seems to me that something is only divine if its worshipers believe so, i.e. it's about the intent of the worship. After all, there are real-world figures like the Buddha or the prophet Muhammad who are explicitly not gods in their respective religions, but are deeply revered, including through forms of prayer and the erection of monuments. Just making visual observations, as in the first edits I mentioned, does not give any real insight on that front. And as for the third edit, things are described as gods all the time without literally being so: SpaceGodzilla and GMK Godzilla are great examples, as they are both not only evil but mostly unknown to humanity before they attack.
Anyway, I think ABB makes a fine argument. I especially appreciate the appeal to dialogue, which is really what I was looking for from GojiraBoy or Cohozilla. I notice now the latter did bring up the "first gods" thing in their edit, but it was not elaborated on, so the relevance wasn't clear to me. Sometimes I'm wrong!
